I would like to buy my father an inexpensive computer. Anyone know where I can get one?

eMachines makes a reliable and relatively inexpensive computer. My DD15 has had hers for 3 years now without a single problem and the child does almost everything on it...graphics, games, word processing, music...everyday. Check Walmart, Best Buy and other electronics superstores for bundle deals.

This is a very nice thing for you to do. I would either go with dell or one of those keyboard things you hook up to the tv for internet and email. BUT.... Have you asked him if he would like one? I know it sounds like an odd question, but my DH and I offered to buy his parents one and they told us they didnt want one! ( shocking, i know ) Another thing to think about : is he aware of the cost for internet access?? I am not trying to say you shouldnt do something like this if your dad would like one! I just try to look at the whole picture

My father's very old computer recently broke. Fixing it is out of the question, so I thought I'd purchase a simple more up to date computer. Thank you all for your suggestions. I will definately look into every suggestion.

If you are going to order a dell computer online, then do a search of the internet on "dell coupon code" or "dell discount code" . I bought my dell laptop last year and found a code for $750 off of the final price when all that dell was offering was $300 off. I was able to get all of the other special offers with this code too! But its either/or with the $$ off. This takes alot of research, but it pays off in the end.!
