Ineresting attendance article.

Interesting to see WDW's MK grab the top spot from Tokyo's MK. I imagine TDS diluted the crowds a little bit.

By the taste comment I assume you mean DCA. It probably had more room for improvement given the reported disappointing '02 numbers and I've read lots about ticket giveaways that added to the attendance. Perhaps someone in the know can elaborate.

I still don't know if WDW numbers includes park hopping or only the first park you visit on a day. I've been to three parks in one day. Do I count as three people?

That could skew EPCOT's numbers since I always go in the evening for dinner and Illuminations. Also, I always go to AK early in the morning. So that would count as AK 1, EPCOT 0 even though I end up spending more time at EPCOT. I'm sure Disney's internal numbers tell them the pattern of peoples' visits and thus gives them an accurate picture. And of course they know how many people ride each ride.

There was an article in today's Tampa Tribune about the attendance figures of all the parks, along with the ranking of the top 11 from Amusement Business (I think they included the 11th because this is a Tampa paper, and Busch Gardens Tampa is #11). The rankings for US theme parks were 1. Magic Kingdom Orlando (around 14 million, even topping Tokyo Disneyland for #1 in the world), 2. Disneyland Anaheim (around 12 million I think), 3. Epcot (around 8-9 million), 4. Disney/MGM Studios 5. Disney's Animal Kingdom 6. Universal Studios Florida 7. Islands of Adventure 8. Disney's California Adventure 9. Sea World Orlando 10. Universal Studios California 11. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Universal and IOA flip-flopped again. That's interesting because with all the thrill rides and the Halloween party I assumed IOA would continue to pull away from USF.

Hmm, maybe Jimmy Neutron and Shrek made a difference? I know people all over were raving about Shrek when it opened.

I bet USF will keep the numbers higher too once The Mummy opens
