Indoor Grills

I'm trying to start a healthy diet and am looking for opinions on indoor grills, such as the George Foreman or Cuisinart. I would most likely cook sandwiches and meats (lean burgers, chicken, maybe some salmon steaks). What do you like (or dislike) about yours?

I have a small George Foreman. It fits about 2 small chicken breasts, barely. It has the bun warmer compartment on top - although I've never used it, so I'm not sure how good it works. I love how easy it is and how quickly it cooks food.

I do have a few complaints about mine, though.. first, I wish it was bigger - at least 100 sq. inches (mine is 36, I think). This was a gift, so I can't complain too much, but I wish it was at least twice the size. Second, I wish it had the removable plates. If I were shopping for a new one, this would be a MUST. It is such a pain in the rear to try and clean this grill off without being able to remove the plates.

If I were going to get a new one, it'd be a toss up between these two:

My mom loves her George Foreman grill.

We have a propane grill outside and grill on it no matter the temp. We eat a lot of chicken breasts, plain.

When our grill broke for a few weeks I had to take up broiling. I will have to say that broiling fish was not too bad. It was even better for the lighter fishes, like orange roughy.

Had a George Foreman but traded that in for the Cuisinart. It's a lot more versital. Can also be used as a griddle. It even still works after I dropped it off the counter.

we have one of the larger ones..I think it's much too large for 2 people..can cook 6 chicken breasts or burgers on it..ours has the bun warmer also (never used it either!), and the non removable trays..which is a pita to clean..
If you have the option..get one that the trays come out of , just for convenience..
We did get a panini grill for Christmas which has removable plates, you can make it a waffle iron, flat sandwich grill..or panini maker..haven't tried it yet though!

I was leaning toward the Cuisinart, but some of the Amazon reviews complain about grease splattering and run-off. Some said the grease runs out all sides (over the dials, down the back, etc) rather than into the cups. Have you had this problem?

Nope have never had this problem. If I am cooking burgers I will keep an eye on it because I've seen some of those same reviews but it works for me. Maybe my kitchen counter is slanted or maybe there's are.

I have 2 different George Foreman grills. One is the small grill that could fit maybe 2 chicken breasts inside. It's the plain and simple kind, no bun warmer or anything, but I used it when I was in college and had my own apartment and it was the best thing in the world for someone living alone...

The second one I have is the full electric indoor grill. It's about the size of a small charcoal grill. It works great in the winter when it's too darn cold to grill outdoors. It does the same thing the smaller ones do, which is, drains the excess fat, just allows more food on the grill top. I love it because if you want to cook on the counter you can take the grill top off the pedestal and place it on any hard surface near an electrical outlet, or if you want to do it outdoors or in the kitchen and pretend like your outdoors you can do that too using the pedestal. It works great for me I really have no complaints on either one.

Both of them drain off the fat great. I tend to freak out at all the grease that comes out of just plain chicken, let alone a burger or something like that. Plus the smaller ones have a timer, so you can pretty much set it and forget it for a while if you have other things to prep for dinner.

If you have any other questions on these two items...I'd be happy to try to answer them as best as I can from my vantage point.
