Indirect flight via Detroit?

Has anyone flown with Northwest Airlines via Detroit?

Yes, just once last Oct. We usually fly from Manch as we live 45 mins from there but we got a flight on Orbitz.com NWA LHR~MCO via Detroit £240 return. Over half Manchester prices.
Was easily the best transatlantic flight we have done, new plane, great IFE system, staff could not do anymore, on their feet the whole flight just about, responded to every call button.
Only problem is since we flew they have now merged with Delta, no idea how this has affected their fleet. If they are still using the same planes then I would not hesitate booking but if they are using older Delta planes they are not as good.

Thanks Wayneg. I've found a flight for December for £305 each on this route, seems to be the best rate going. The problem is that it says "operated by Delta" so I guess we won't get the good planes?

Not sure you can tell which plane it will be, It could possibly be all NWA flights now say thats since they merged, I don't know. Personally I would take Delta at £305, would be a bonus if it was NWA but I don't care who I fly with as long as its cheapest available.

I haven't done that route, but did NWA to Vegas once, via Detroit. Everything said here already is totally true- great plane, good service, cheap! But, I would never do it again- just too much messing around and time wasting. I've always gone direct since then, and the same applies with Orlando for me. But if you don't mind the extra hassle and time, go for it.

Some people don't like indirect, some won't even try it, we find it no different to direct as you get immigration done at 1st airport, saves 30-60 mins on arrival at MCO, also take into consideration decline it Virgins direct service including their poor delay record.
Our bookings for 3 adults, last Oct was Virgin £800pp, NWA £240pp, £1680 saving for a 2 hour stop. This May Virgin £650pp, AA £322, £984 saving
Best one August Virgin U/C £2,227, Delta £465, £5,286 saving

Well, given those savings, yeah, you'd have to do the indirect option. With Vegas, the difference in price has never been that pronounced- maybe 100 quid difference. And for such a long flight, would always do non-stop. Those Orlando prices are very appealing. Never booked flights seperately, have always done packages to Florida. May have to look into it for my next booking. Thanks
