I have been on the Indiana Jones ride many times and I remember going into different rooms instead of the treasure room. Am I delusional or do I have the wrong forum for this question?

There are 3 different rooms you can go into at the beginning

I would love to see proof of this... only because I have heard it, but there's only two tracks that merge into one at the start of the ride, so I can't see how it can actually be done!

In reality there's only one room/hall, but it can be 'decorated' to look like three different rooms. You either go to see the future, get treasure, or the fountain of youth. If I remember correctly, there are screens that go up on the sides for the future and fountain of youth 'doors', which hide the treasure decoration that's set behind. If you look closely through the screen you can see the treasure set behind it. I've never figured out for sure exactly how it looks like you're going through different doors, maybe that whole first room rotates? There is only one door that you can actually go through though. Hope this helps, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Yes there is physically only one operational track when your jeep is faced w/ the three door options (future, treasure, youth), and then physically only one first room that you enter (when you are admonished not to look into the eyes of Mara but you do any way and all heck breaks loose). BUT, in the entry w/ the three door options they move the side walls and the header piece above the doors just before your jeep enters to change up where your track appears to be heading. Due to the shift in wall positions the stationary track can appear to be going into to the far left door, the middle or the far right. Then once inside the door, they use scrims, lighting and sound effects to turn that space into which ever room is needed to synch with the door way. Does that make sense. You can google it and find people who have created animated models to show you how it works.

Excellent description. Thank you.

that is such a cool description and now I know how it all works! I always wondered that myself. Where did you get all this awesome info from? I was just curious if it was a specific site that has cool Disney facts or something. I also read recently that they will be changing the ride a little bit. I did see this link recently and I believe it is somewhat of a preview of what you are talking about... http://blog.touringplans.com/2013/0...ded-to-indiana-jones-adventure-at-disneyland/

If you google Indiana Jones Ride Three Doors you will see a thread on Micechat from 2008 where this is discussed and you will also see a you tube link to a motion graphics simulation that someone did to show how the doors effect works. (I did not put the direct links in this post as sometimes the moderators frown on sending disers directly to other sites.)
