Indiana Jones: I loved all the movies and desperately want to ride this attraction but I am a chicken! I did Dinosaur once and did not like it. My neck took a beating and the volume in the ride was insane. I can't do roller coasters because of the drops. It Indiana Jones like Dinosaur? super jerky? does the jeep drop down any hills? Could I stand it?

Radiator Springs: I have done test track once and did not like the "banking". Felt like my head was shoved in my chest. Is RS as bad as test track? does the car go down any drops?

Thanks

I have ridden Indy a few times and it is just not worth it for me. I spend all my energy and focus so hard on not getting injured that I am missing the ride. As for RSR, I love it and fond it to be very smooth and not uncomfortable at all. I have never been to WDW so I can't compare with the other rides.

Indy, is bouncy and jerky. And the last time I rode it in 2012, it broke 3 times, while we were on the ride, and one time, during a 20 min stall we were stuck and they turned the house lights on, and a CM walked up the track, just where the "falling" boulder is and Indy is climbing the rope.

Personally, I don't care for Indy, and after looking at dinosaur open Youtube, it looks similar in ride cars.

However, RSR is awesome, I've never done test track, but I found RSR to be fairly smooth, the first half is a gentle drive and the race is lots of fun, and it found it a fun and smooth ride.

Hope that helps.

You could look up a youtube video of these rides, and it might help you.

Indiana Jones is incredibly similar to Dinosaur (minus the theming of course - I have heard but cannot verify that both rides use the same track layout) so if you did not like one I would consider skipping the other.

I agree with the other posters that RSR is a pleasant ride - I even find the music to be soothing, whereas Test Track is all about putting the vehicle through "extreme" conditions so I can see where you might find it taxing.

I absolutely hate Dinosaur, and I love Indy. They are the same ride vehicles and supposedly track, but to me do not seem like the same ride. Indy is jerky, which is something I don't like about Dinosaur, and maybe it is just that the theming is so great, but it doesn't bother me that much on Indy. I also feel like I see more on Indy. Last time I rode Dinosaur, I felt like it was mostly totally dark and occasionally I might see a flash of Dinosaur. Indy is definitely dim, but it just feels like you see more of what is going on around you. You will have to judge for yourself whether you want to ride it knowing it is a little jerky and bouncy, but don't judge it based on Dinosaur. I don't care if I ever ride Dinosaur again, but I can't wait to get on Indy again.

RSR puts Test Track to shame. The theming is incredible. I don't think you will have issues with it, and I don't think you should skip it. It seems quite a bit smoother than test track to me. The car does speed out in the open at the end like test track- but there are no roller coaster like drops. You are racing another car and enjoying the beautiful scenery as you fly by.

Hello! Fellow ride chicken here. I do not like much in the thrill ride department. However, Indy is my limit. I love it. My first ride, I was terrified, but my friends talked me through it. It is jerky, and loud. I am sensative to drops also, and you almost feel like you are going to drop but then really it is over and you realize that you didn't go far if you did.

Now, RSR.... I hate to say it, but I will probably never ride it again. I've gone twice and it's OK, but not enjoyable to me. There are a series of 'dips' at the end that bother me, and honestly it's about one dip too many for me. The ride photo drop always has me looking like I'm terrified. I honestly can't stand it. It's a shame because the start of the ride is so fun and beautiful.

Like I said, I'm a chicken. I'm super sensitive to drops and so love Indy and seriously dislike RSR. I think the only way you'll know for sure is to try them.

Indy is a lot of fun, but it is not a smooth ride. There are a lot of sudden stops, sudden starts, and accelerated turns. I like Indy a lot more than Dinosaur, but I think they're pretty similar in terms of the actual ride mechanics. There are no roller coaster style drops on Indy, but there are down slopes.

Radiator Springs: I have done test track once and did not like the "banking". Felt like my head was shoved in my chest. Is RS as bad as test track? does the car go down any drops?
RSR does have some banking, but it's not as pronounced as on Test Track. Test Track is going much faster when it's going around the curve. The "race" portion of RSR tops out at 40 mph (according to Wikipedia), whereas Test Track is going 65 mph. There are some ups and downs on the "race" portion of the track (not roller coaster style drops). You can see most of the ups and downs and banks on the race course from outside the ride (sitting near Flo's), so you might want to consider doing that before you decide whether to ride or not.

Indy is very jerky and very loud. But it's the same ride structure/layout as Dinosaur, so no drops.

RSR is slower than TT, but unlike TT it does include a couple of "bunny hop" moments where you feel butterflies in your stomach. You may not like those.

I cannot compare with Test Track or Dinosaur, but I would highly recommend that you ride Indy and RSR at least once.

Indy is simply amazing--be sure to take your time walking through the que and see all the details. RSR can't be missed either imo--even if you are not a fan of thrills, the audio-animatronic cars are a sight to behold. They are easily in my top 5 rides (i.e. not including shows as attractions) in all of DLR and I much prefer dark rides over thrill rides (POTC and HM are 1 and 2 on my list respectively, and Peter Pan is in the mix at 3-5 with Indy and RSR).

Even if they have the same system, they both feel like totally different rides, and in my opinion they are worth every minute you spend in the queue. Sure, Indy is jerky and bumpy and such, but it's definitely much better than Dinosaur. Same goes for RSR. Actually, I think Test Track is a bit faster than RSR. Plus, the dark ride portion is incomparable.

They are both totally worth it, but if you really can't stand Dinosaur or TT, I guess these rides won't do much for you.

I found with Dinosaur I'm fine as long as I'm in the middle-otherwise, my bod hits the side of the car and I'm limping for a day. If I sit in the middle, I'm fine. I plan on using this trick for when I ride Indy (hopefully) in Sept.

I've learned Splash Mountain is the height of what I can take dropwise. Tower of Terror, California Screamin', forget it, not happening. I did okay with Big Thunder and Space Mountain, so I can handle some coasters and small drops. I thought Matterhorn was okay too, but shoot...I'm 4'9 and I felt crowded in that car!

Radiator Springs Racers was fine for me...I loved it. There are some dips, about maybe what you have on Pirates of the Caribbean.

I'm a ride chicken when it comes to coasters, but I'll do Indy at least once per trip. It is jerky like Dinosaur, but the sights, theming, etc. is so much better IMHO that it's worth the jerky ride.

As for RSR, I keep chickening out of TT so I can't compare it. I rode RSR once and it made me a bit carsick (but that happens easily to me). It's not scary at all and I'm glad I rode it the one time. But when we went back in the evening, I chose to wait for everyone else on the bench. ;)

With Indy, it's like a dance of sorts. You have to go with the give and take of the motion. Not tense up, or become anxious or hold on
with a death grip as if your going to kiss the ground once the excursion finishes.

I thought Dinosaur was silly and lame (sorry) but love Indy. I also love Radiator Springs and would consider it right at the edge...but not over...my tolerance level. I do not do the mountain as I don't like them, and I don't do Screaming or TOT but love Indy and RSR

that's exactly what I did on dinosaur. I was almost holding myself in the air with my legs. When I got off, within an hour, I had the worst headcold and it lasted the rest of the vacation. Go figure?

I too am a ride chicken, but even if you don't go on Indy, make sure you walk through the line at least once, to see the great details inside the attraction. Then, if you decide not to ride, you can tell the CM, and they will let you out. Not sure if you can do this with RSR. Have a great time!

Like other people said, I have heard that Indy has a similar ride track to Dinosaur, but the theming is better so if you can get distracted by that, it will probably be fine.

My mom is a "ride chicken" & she loves Indy and RSR, but especially RSR. She was scared to go on both, but ended up loving them. I think I actually remember her saying that she was afraid of RSR because she thought it would be like Test Track, but it ended up being so much better!

Overall, I think that RSR is milder in terms of jerkiness, but it does go faster.
Indy is jerkier, but doesn't go as fast.

Good luck! :hippie:

While Indy and Dinosaur are very similar ride vehicles, they are definitely not the same size. I have always had a problem with Indy and my knees banging the front of the ride (6'2", 300+), no such issues with Dinosaur. That said, it definitely matters where you sit. In the front row there is definitely less of a whip than the back row. Just back from Disneyworld and almost bruised my wife I hit her so hard from the whip , much less action from the front. It's been awhile since I have ridden Indy, but imagine the whip issues would be similar (less in the front more dramatic in the back rows).
