Indiana Jones 5 scheduled to be released in 2019

Agree with CMDTA...too many joke titles...must resist. Oh to heck with it...

Indiana Jones and the Cane of Destiny
Indiana Jones and the Search for the Fountain of Youth
Indiana Jones and the Rest Home for Aged Adventurers
Indiana Jones and the Search for Lost Memories
Indiana Jones and, well, you get the "picture".

To be honest, there have only been two good Indiana Jones movies -- the first and the third. The 2nd and 4th were abysmal and the plots ridiculous. Kate Capshaws nonstop screaming in #2 was unbearable. Surprised he married her after having to endure that during filming LOL.

Previous poster is right -- this one needs to be top of the line because I'm sure it will be Ford's last.

Perhaps Indiana Jones will be the opposite of Star Trek.
Odd numbered films are the best.

Interesting that Steve is onboard...

I wonder if dreamworks will eventually be sold to "some" media conglomerate in the future?

I'd think adding "S" and "K" to the mix wouldn't be a bad move.

And it would kill Michael Eisner once and for all...

Oh...please. Disney should never spend a dime on buying "K"'s DreamWorks Animation. That's one turkey that just needs to die on it's own.

He'll be the Sean Connery character i reckon and pass the torch, just recast Shia

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I thought the only thing that really worked in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was Shia (up until he started swinging with monkeys, but that's not really his fault). His off screen antics may be tiring, but he's typically really great in his performances. I do remember him saying he wouldn't do another big budget blockbuster again though. After all the flack he got for the Transformer movies and Indy 4, I would be surprised if that's what really pushed him over the edge.

I don't get the hate for the aliens portion of the last movie. Every one of these movies has has science fiction / fantasy elements.

Capshaw was fine back then...

If speilberg should be mad at anyone now - it should be her incompetent Beverly Hills plastic surgeon.

Yikes

Oh, she was very pretty -- I just couldn't stand her screaming character LOL They've had some gorgeous kids, too.

They spent years trying to agree on a concept. Lucas insisted on aliens or he wouldn't go. Ford & Spielberg relented just to get something made.
Lucas is now out of the picture. I have way more faith.

I think there were more problems than just the appearance of aliens at the end. Indy's son was miscast, the female Soviet scientist didn't work very well as a villain or dramatic foil, and some of the gags were really dumb. Like the ants carrying a man's body into their den, and the heroes going over giant waterfalls three times without a scratch. And there was something disproportionate or illogical about the size of the flying saucer at the end ... it just didn't look or feel right.

But like you say, if Lucas is out then it's bound to be better. Assuming they don't go over the top with CG or bend over backwards trying to make references to "current" (presumably 1960s) trends in an excessively lame way.

The was cartoonish in a way the previous movies weren't. Indiana Jones is supposed to take after cliffhanger serials not The Three Stooges.

Shia's personal antics are ridiculous at best, but I generally like his acting and didn't think Indy 4 was horrific, though not the best Indy movie, like some people do.

My only hope is the way Disney has handled marvel and star wars. Hopefully they can add the same creative energy into Jones. Otherwise.....

Hollywood scripts get messed with by so many hands it's hard to know how much credit or scorn should apply to the writer, but David Koepp's list of credits while long isn't particularly inspiring:

Men In Black 3, War of the Worlds, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Spider-Man, Panic Room, Mission: Impossible, Jurassic Park, Lost World to name a few.

Lots of recognizable movies but how many of them are highly regarded for their stories?

So it's not necessarily a bad thing he's involved, but it's not any indicator of quality to come either.
