So I got on Indiana Jones today (the 28th) around 3:30, the line took around 10 minutes (with our fast pass) and we got on around 3:45, we got about half way through the ride, and the ride stops around the same point where the people throw spears at you (with the wind passing by). We sit there and we're told that a cast member would be around to let us out... then 20 minutes goes by, and we get the same message. So we sit for around 30 minutes, and finally we get a message that says that the ride will commence, so it goes for about 3 seconds and we get stuck just before the dip under the rolling rock (so we got to see how the rock effect works, so that was cool) and finally, 45 minutes after the ride breaks down we get to the end and they let us go around one more time to make up for the break down.

But I'm just curious anyone (mainly a cast member) know what happened to break down the ride for 45 minutes, and why we weren't evacuated from the ride and left there for 45 minutes?

I got stuck there in August (dart room). We had to climb out of the truck and walk out of the ride. That was kinda cool. LOL They gave us passes to ride it again without waiting but that was my last night there and the park had already closed. (We were sitting there for a while...the park closed while we waited.) I heard that it was closed the next day too. Seems to me Indy needs a good tuneup.

That was the first time in the past year and a half that I've been going that I've seen it broken down.

DH and I got stuck almost 7 years back on our honeymoon.

We got stuck right after you drop below the ball. It was funny cause DH asked me, "Is this supposed to happen??"

We ended up sitting there in a bouncing truck for about 15-20 minutes before we were able to get out with the help of a CM. Those trucks are high off the ground.

We ended up seeing how they do the Indy figure at the end of the ride.

I got stuck in the dart room too!!! Weird place to be because it's SO not exciting in that spot. We didn't have to be walked off, but, we were stuck for a good 15 minutes.

I have been stuck below Indy hanging from the rope before as he cycles through all his comments. Probably not more than 15 minutes though.

The worst I ever felt for someone at Disneyland was when Splash Mountain broke down. A boat had just started its decent but had not been let go by the mechanism. They clearly could not get out. We passed by about 10 and they were up there and the last we saw them it was 4 pm and they were still there. Not sure how or when they finally got off.

Gasp! I'd hate that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can stand being stuck inside a ride, on a flat surface, but, hanging like that? No way! Let the freak out begin!

Thats what I was thinking. That has to get totally unnerving. If you look up next time you can see steps leading back and a railing(I think it is green). The last person in the boat was about two feet past the steps. Probably right at the end of the mechanism that lets you go too.

I was looking up and you could have scrambled to the end of the boat and made it. Of course there is no restraint system on Splash Mountain. I was wondering how long until someone got so unnerved or impatient they might try it.

EEK!!! That would freak me out!

To be sooo close, yet so far away.

That is a long time to be stuck too!

(WOW! I hope they got something for thier long wait they had to endure.)

just be happy that the ride just stopped...

One time at Knotts, i was riding a ride that was like a swing, going left and right up over 50 degrees upward... all of sudden, the brakes failed, we just kept swinging for like an hour(a lot of ppl puked off the ride) until it finally stopped and they took us down one by one... then they gave us all free tickets... too bad i was an employee there :/

this past February, at WDW, space mountain broke twice while we where in line. Both times, the lights had to be put on, and you could see the entire infrastructure - the ride looks a lot smaller when the lights are on. The 1st time, they made everyone leave the building, and actually had to get all of the riders off from their "safe points", and then restart and retest the ride (according to a CM), so it took about 45 minutes to an hour to get the ride back up and running. Since we were in line, they gave us a FastPass good at any attraction.

Wanna talk about being stuck in unexciting areas? Last trip I was stuck on Pirates just after the second waterfall, where it's barely lit by blue light and where Davy Jones is talking to you... Must've been 10-15 minutes.

During our late September trip, we waited in long lines for Autopia and Indy toward the end of the evening, and just as we got close to boarding the ride broke down. Arrgh! For Autopia they gave us the "FP good for today only" coupon, but since it was so late in the evening it was pretty useless. However, I had used a baby swap pass on Indy, so I got that back. When we went to the park the next morning we headed straight for Indy, and were able to use it, WOOHOO!

We were actually on Splash when it broke down, and it created quite a logjam. We were just before the 2nd drop and had to wait maybe 15 minutes before they finally decided to unload it. A CM came by to tell us how to step off the log one by one and help each person off, then led us down the narrow walkway and behind the scenes. It was also an interesting look at parts of the ride you don't usually catch going by, and also on the interior structure that you're never supposed to see.

Sure enough, there had been people on the steep incline for the final drop, but I don't think anyone was left hanging over the edge, thank goodness.

We were on Indy a few years back when it broke down. It was just after we went around the fire breathing rock. Our jeep did this little sideways shift thing and everything stopped. The lights came on immeadiately, rails poped up from nowhere, and a worker came to check out our jeep. Seems it was our jeep that caused the prob. He said it slide off it's chasis-sort of. He'd never seen it do that. He got a step stool off the back of the jeep and helped us down. We were escorted out by another CM who told us to stay away from the center track. We got to walk through the rat and spear rooms. It was pretty cool actually and of course I didn't have my camera that time! :confused3 I would have loved to get some pictures. We weren't given any line passes or fast passes (they didn't have them yet) but it probably only took 15-20 minutes to get out of the ride.

Of all the times I've ridden Indy, or any other ride at DL, it's the only time we've gotten stuck. :grouphug:

We've been in Space Mt. during a breakdown. The lights were on and it really isn't very cool looking when you see it is just a little roller coaster! We were walked out.

A couple years ago we got stopped at the same place and so the boat we were in was just kinda floating in the water nothing interesting happening. But this guy sitting behind me was freaking out almost to tears yelling at the kids in front of me because they were laughing and splashing water on eachother he was afraid the movement in the boat would tip the boat. And these kids are telling him the boat can't tip, there wasn't enough room and whatever so I'm in the middle of these playful kids and a guy who thinks we're going to die. It wasn't too much fun, but we all got these FP things good for one ride only but we didn't have to wait in line.
