Hi:
When did this happen? We are going the wk of MLK & thought it would be fun to stay a night or 2 at either the Poly or Contemporary over the weekend. My DH called & the points for Sat & Sunday quoted did not add up to the points in the book so while he was on the phone I checked the website. Lo & behold the points to stay are higher during MLK wknd, Pres. wknd & &/4-7/5. The points were absurd so we changed our mind but shouldn't DVC have sent a notice or an amendment to the 2008-2009 book?

I'm not sure, but they may have just recently increased. The '09 hotel rates are finally out(I believe) and park tickets have just increased. So, maybe they haven't had time to get this info to us. I don't think people stay at the Disney resorts using points very much, simply because the points are very expensive. So, it's probably not much of a priority to them.

If I'm not mistaken the book is 2008 and 2009 for DVC resorts only - all others are just for 2008. The 2009 WDW rates are on the memer website.

I did notice that they really increased the dates that are now considered holiday.

Points to stay at non-DVC resorts can (and do) increase on an annual basis. To the best of my knowledge, DVC has never sent a notice announcing the increase. (It's possible for them to decrease, but I do not recall that happening).

The ability to stay at non-DVC WDW Resorts is not guaranteed and there is no contractual "point inflation protection" for the non-DVC options like there is for the DVC resorts. That's why we say that the best value of DVC points comes from using them for a stay at a DVC resort.
