Incoming spike in crowds.

they release them throughout the day, depending on line size. Saturday - HPFJ was over 40 minutes so it switched to VQ at that point. Also - the VQ portion of the app doesnt list all the rides - you have to tap on the ride on the wait time map, and then hit the vq line to see if its active or not. the VQ page never seems to change to include all the rides using it.

Which is pretty ridiculous. When I was there, you couldn't even look at wait times (and thus a list of all rides) like you used to be able to to see this. You had to go on the map and tap on each individual ride.

So are you saying only certain rides are released throughout the day? And by throughout the day that just means "when they decide to turn it on"? I was imagining a release of Hagrids times every 2-3 hours or something like that based on the wording. If it just depends on when they turn it on, then you still have the same issue with Hagrids and Mummy. They allowed standby for the first 15-20 minutes of park opening for Mummy, but were telling everyone after that it would be VQ only. It's just strange to me that its one of the rides hard to get on, when in the past I've never waited more than 5-10 minutes.

I just booked a room at HRH for 7/18-21, pool view 2 queen with AP discount, in case we get cancelled from our WDW hotel reservation. We will already be at UO 7/8-12 then WDW DVC 7/12-18. There seemed to be plenty of availability at HRH, even for cheap rooms.

Smart! Guessing from your siggie you’re at BWV. Last i heard, SAB at BC/YC is staying closed, guests will be instructed to use the BW pools.

I cancelled VWL for WDW portion of August trip, landed at PoP as it was one of those projected to be open. Time will tell I guess. Good luck!

Yeah, I've been reading the WDW resort and TPAS boards religiously, waiting. We are at BWV for the first part of WDW. It's the DVC part, so it will be open. We are supposed to be at BWI, non-DVC, for the last few days, but it probably won't be open that early. They have been moving people, so they might move us to the DVC part. I was also concerned that I might not get any/many park reservations with my AP, since they are restricting APs but haven't said by how much. Son and husband have regular tickets. I may end up driving over to UO some days. Who knows :confused3

I am only speaking from what happened this weekend. I don't know how often they release new ones, though they did for Hagrid during the day. Other rides were put on VQ because the line was at the point that there was no more room to put more people into the line because of the Social Distancing set up. At that point (I assume) they went to VQ to keep people out of the line to let it reduce and then you have people coming back at set times later. I did not see Mummy on VQ at all this weekend. Most of the rides in US were 20 minutes or less when i checked. GRingotts and F&F were on VQ at all times.

Brave new world indeed. You sound flexible, believe that is only way to go forward for some time I do think of an AP holder has a resort res the # of days should match the res

If u do get bumped at WDW be sure to share your ‘amazing’:wizard:upgrade!

It may or may not result in an upgrade. They would probably move me to another DVC studio. It will most likely be a new hotel for us; we've only stayed DVC once before. So that will be nice. I am totally trying to be loosy goosy with this trip. I think UO will be a good experience though, even if WDW is lacking. I have read of several people switching to UO, especially early on. People are tired of waiting for news from WDW. Might end up with some new converts.

It’s true, U came out of the gate so early it threw WDW, obviously scrambling with so many more moving parts. Have spoken to several families who are picking my brain re U. I swear there is a contingent of WDW who seem to be mourning the planning complement of their cancelled trips more than the actual visit lol

I’m partial to BWV. Only a few DVC resorts I’d consider taking a pass if assigned

If you watch some of the vlogggers - they are afraid of doing rides indoors, doing rides with indoor queues, afraid of eating food in the parks and just generally paranoid to a point I cant watch some of them anymore.
I agree. Never once did I feel unsafe last week. In fact it was probably safer here than the free for all at many grocery stores where masks aren’t required.
Yeah - people are stircrazy no doubt - if it was not for the mask requirement id be down for a weekend.
I’m a vocal “no mask for me” when out doors, buuuuutttt it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. We booked a spontaneous resort trip just after Universal announced they were opening. Had to use up some timeshare weeks. Had no plans to go to Universal but tossed the APs in anyway. It makes for some Interesting pictures, and I still don’t know why required outdoors and on fast rides- magically you are safe though when eating outdoors (and indoors) and on water rides but not Hulk? That was the only ride I really disliked the mask and felt almost suffocated, so I didn’t do RRR either.
am white water rafting with no mask
THAT sounds amazing! Have fun!
actually think in some of the Sea World shows, where one vlogger was complaining about the lack of masks, when people were more than six feet apart and outdoors, masks aren't necessary. And going on an indoor ride, with everyone wearing masks and using hand sanitizer and being six feet apart, seems safer to me than going into a grocery st
Completely agree- but they are absolutely desperate for clicks to get their comfy revenue stream back up so focusing on the “OMG I’m GONNA DIE” aspects is obviously a way to do that.

When did you go? Went a week ago and we walked right on Hagrids at opening and then proceeded around the park with little to no wait times. Kong had a VQ later in the day but we timed it right with a 10 minutes wait and didn’t need it. I even got to keep my crossbody purse on me at FJ!
Going again tomorrow so will see if things have changed

Anecdotally about crowds spike not related to parks: staying at Harbor Lake- last week the resort was very slow, another guest told me when he booked a couple weeks ago he asked occupancy and it was 5%. Spiked to 50% this weekend but it seems much much less busy again today. Not as slow as last week but not like Friday-Monday.

After seeing the reports of how uncrowded the parks are, we took advantage of cheap airfare and have an impromptu stay booked for next Tues night - Sunday. We're still trying to decide whether we're actually going to go. We usually stay at a deluxe hotel for the Express pass, but if we do go we'll stay at Cabana Bay. I've been trying to check wait times on the app. Last weekend did seem a lot busier, but we're hoping by visiting mostly on the weekdays that will help. We also have 3 nights booked for end of July/early Aug after a WDW/beach stay. Anyways, sorry to be rambling, I guess I'm just wondering peoples' thoughts are on if the parks will still be slow next week. Thanks!

Good question. Going the week before July 4th should be a plus. I expect that week/weekend to be very busy (what ever that means these days). I agree with you on the weekdays being less crowded than the weekends. The Wednesday/Thursday of your trip should be great with real low crowds, and if so, you will be able to get a lot accomplished before the crowds begin to increase Friday. If it gets too crowded for you on the weekend, Cabana Bay has a great pool area and you can also pool hop at Universal. Having another trip planned also means you don't have to do it all now, although with four days you should have plenty of time to conquer all and then some. Hope you have a great trip!

Here today and while busier than last week still not near usual. Longest wait so far is Hogsmeade express at 30 minutes- and I think we’ve waited twenty and are ready to board. Got Hagrids VQ right when park opened for boarding at 920.
