Incentives and new pricing winter/spring 2025

I was hopeful for better incentives. I think I’m able to switch my purchase yesterday to some additional points and take advantage of the previous offer because I purchased yesterday and have not closed yet.

I’m west coast and imo ability to use points anywhere is even more critical.

I have grandfathered Subsidized Aulani points but they’re never enough. I can’t bring myself to purchase direct Aulani knowing how much the savings is for resale Aulani not to mention the maintenance fee compared to our subsidized points.

But more importantly i can’t bring myself to purchase resale anywhere because i need those points to book at Disneyland Villas. We have some Disneyland Hotel villas points and a fixed week at Rivera, our very favorite resort.

The cabins are honestly looking like my best option. If we get 150 I can get price down to $165 pp with the d23, magical beginnings and using the incentives that expired yesterday.

I love the mk area and kick myself for not purchasing ccv when they were first on sale. I know the mfs are high but The wilderness cabins being so much less per night compared to most other one bedroom choices make them seem more reasonable. I’m just trying to figure out which is the best choice for favorite weeks. If the cabins happen to be part of lakeside lodge I’d guess they might become pretty difficult to book so figure I might as well get a fixed week.

I’ve never regretted our Rivera, Aulani or Disneyland villas purchases and I know they all had negatives regarding value and resale. Aulani and Rivera points were a fantastic savings. Disneyland villas will take longer to pay for themselves but are on track to do so by year 7 or 8.

Oh decisions.

I don’t think you can rewrite your contract from yesterday with old pricing to add more points as those incentives are over.

Precisely this advice. We bought resale SSR in 2023 because I wouldn't mind staying there if I couldn't get in anywhere at 7 months. We want to experience as many resorts as possible, so for us SSR resale was a good buy for SAP, and of course if we ended up staying there I'd be fine with that. The recent remodel and the Murphy beds were a selling point for us compared to other resorts I was considering at the time. FWIW I haven't yet stayed at SSR on those points yet, though of course I haven't owned them for that long in the grand scheme of things.
I'm definitely keeping my mind open to this, I'm going to try to stay there when we go in September! Getting the wife on board is a different story, she is blinded by those damn animals at akl lol

Don't over think it. The difference of a few dollars between SSR and AKV is not that important in the grand scheme of things.

They might. It depends on when their "tour" took place. I vaguely recall that FL law requires an offer to be good for seven days, which is why this disclaimer is on the site:

Offered pricing will remain available for 7 days following participation in a Resort sales tour.

Notably, you can take the "tour" by telephone.

Maybe my info is wrong! Would be good to find out if it happens.

It might date to your first conversation with a Guide, or it might date to the first time you do the webinar. I suspect it does not come into play very often.

FWIW, I believe I effectively did this today. I put down a deposit on 300 points last week. Over the weekend we decided to revise it down to 150 points, but my guide was on vacay from the day after I put down the deposit until today. (He was clear about that when I purchased.) I emailed him over the weekend in the hopes he would respond, worried that I was going to have to go through someone else to revise the points and keep the pre-Feb 11 price. He did respond, saying that he would revise everything when he got back to the office today and honor yesterday’s price.

Whether or not he would have done that without the communication over the weekend, I don’t know. But the fact is that he *was* able to do that within their system. I received the new 150 points documents this morning, with yesterday’s pricing intact.

Thanks for clarifying this. At one time was told it couldn’t be done if we wanted more.

But sounds like it can be done !! Congratulations!!

It's possible that you were outside seven days from your first contact at that incentive level at the time, at which point they don't have to honor it. It's also possible that RivGirl's message before today was what made it feasible.

It could be that my guide was given permission to handle things differently because of his OOO time…or, who knows what all happened behind the scenes. Maybe it would have been different if I had waited until today to tell him we wanted to revise down. I don’t honestly know. But it does show that there are certain flexibilities that can be allowed, I guess.

And thanks! 300 would have been exciting but more than we need for the foreseeable future…and we decided to take a closer look at a basement refinishing project, so we wanted to keep more cash on hand… We’re pretty sure we’ll be back for more at some point. :)

Saratoga 100 point resale at $9400 is looking pretty juicy right now 🤣🤣🤣 if I'm literally flexible to go ANY time of the year would it make sense to buy a resort you don't really want to stay at in hopes of something else hitting at the 7 month mark every year? I like a lot of resorts and split stays are a ok with us

DVC is the long game. It’s ok not moving too fast. There’s many different strategies, and the best fit depends on our individual priorities and travel patterns.

We ended up starting with a smaller resale contract. That helped in 2 ways. It gave us the experience to see what we found important, plus we saved money adding on direct with the existing member incentives. Another advantage to buying resale first is having choice from many UYs, then direct seamlessly matching it later. Quite a bit different the other way around starting with direct then being limited to 1 UY resale to match.

It worked out ok for us. The resale contract tided us over until something came along that gave us full confidence to buy. We were watching resale to add a monorail resort when direct came out with such great incentives for VGF it was too good to pass up.

If you’re not totally feeling it or unsure what direction to go, getting your toes wet with a smaller resale contract can be a good place to start. In the meantime you can keep saving up because you’ll probably want more 🤣

Yess this is totally what I'm doing, closing on 160 point blt so at least I'm "in" and then when Mickey decides he's ready for me, i will have my European castle 😆 in the meantime while waiting for this ROFR, i have saved 25% of this loan I took out for it that hasn't started yet and by the time it closes should be 50%. This was actually good for me that it wasn't too tempting because I really should pay this off before jumping into the next 🤣🤣 if I wait until winter and save the way i have been, i will have enough to fully pay off a direct which would be the wise thing to do i know and if something good comes in the summer I know i can aggressively pay it off. In the meantime, I should be happy that I secured a 4 night stay at riviera in September thru DVC rental store so I could just be delusional and act like I already own it and it's my welcome home stay 🤣🤣

That is great! Get the resale paid off while enjoy trying different rooms and resorts.

Sooner or later Direct always ends up having another great incentive round. Direct has some buying strategies that differ from resale too. You can ask your guide to spread payments. Ours let us break it into 4 chunks. We put 25% down (enough to load our points that night - amazing!), then another 25% every 30 days. $7k the 1st of June, July, Aug and Sept, then in Oct we received a $3300 rebate check back for Magical Beginnings. We ran those $7k payments through credit cards to accrue points and paid it off each month. With MB we racked up cc points on $3300 we got back within weeks lol.

^Some really good strategies.

Wow this is great and perfect for us! I did not know they let you spread it out in chunks like this! So let's say i have 10k saved and then want to pay another 10k in 2 months could I possibly arrange something like this to avoid having to take out a loan? Because I could totally pull this off

That figure only takes into consideration those who sell..it’s not based on contracts that don’t.

For example, let’s say 10,000 contracts are sold a year, the average ownership for those owners is 7 to 10 years…

But it doesn’t compare against all of them. And, you have owners, like me who have sold several to buy others…but remain DVC.

So, those that own who aren’t selling are not considered in those figures.
Same! DVC owner since 2007, but have bought and sold many properties. Can absolutely say we are finished buying DVC and very happy with two fixed week contracts.
