Incentive for touring

We will be down in late August. Are they giving anything away as an incentive to tour these days? We did the tour a couple of years ago and we got free fast passes. Have done they tour and I really want to buy, but not through Disny. I am looking at resale.

I don't know if they are giving anything out now, other than the FP's, but a friend of mine got a $100 GC for the tour in February. She ended up buying but that was a great perk!!!

We also got the $100 gift card for touring when we went in April. A friend had suggested that stopping by the booth at a park and then agreeing to the tour could net the most incentives, as opposed to calling up and making an appointment (i.e., in the park they try to entice you to go by sweetening the pot). So, that's how we did it.

Were offered the same thing 2 weeks ago, but was on our departure day and didn't have time..

We receive a $50.00 gift card last november. They wanted to give us fast pass but I told them that I prefer gift card. So gift card I received !

At the beginning of June we toured SSR. The rep at all stars sports offered us fast passes but sinse it was our last free day before we were leaving he offered us 15.00 gift cards for up to 6 people. We had 7 but my parents didn't join us on the tour so we got 5 gift cards. 2 for me and my dh and 3 for the kids.

How do the fast passes work? Is it a one day pass? I am going with extended family who may tour for the incentive?

We also got a $100 GF. I was looking at the brochures at OKW where we were staying and a DVC rep asked if I wanted to do the tour. We knew we wanted to buy in through the resale market, but it was still nice to see the model rooms and we got a great dinner out of it at the California Grille with that GF. Then again, we bought in, so they are on the winning end because we'll be throwing that $100 and then some back to them on all our future vacations!:rotfl:

When we were there two weeks ago at first they offered us 3 fastpasses each to make up for the time lost in the parks and then she called back and offered $15 gift card for everyone in my family. We ended up buying.

My son went up to the DVC spokesperson at the hotel and started chatting her up because he had read the dream book I got in the mail. So that was our first conversation and I was not really interested in talking with them then. I knew I wanted to do a tour at some time. I guess when I was not ready to set up an appointment from our initial conversation she upped the offer.

It is like a regular FastPass ride ticket, except it lets you ride right away instead of having to wait.

No, they do not offer one-day park passes as incentives.

You are given a card for each member of the family. On the cards is six fast passes, 3 for "e ticket, Donald" rides and 3 for "Daisy" rides like Peter Pan and Little Mermaid. I can't remember exactly which rides are Donald or Daisy rides. Just remember the "E ticket" ones all seem to be Donald rides. We used our three Donald rides at Toy Story Mania which really has long lines.

Here's the rides that do fast passes: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/fast-pass/

We did the tour at the end of May (and became owners!) and we were given the $100 GC. At the time, we were told that offer would be ending soon. We were also given the free Fast Passes (which were awesome!! Rode Soarin' on a very busy day twice!) but that was not advertised.

From the posts above, it appears that the incentives are always changing so what may be available to you in August may be different than what we were given.

We did the tour over Thanksgiving in 2009...it was day 4 of a 7 day trip...It was a next break....I just went up to the rep stationed by space mt.....they drove us to BLT...took the kids to play....gave us 5 FP cards..1 for each member of family...did not buy....looking at resales....most likely be the end of the yr before we buy.

:goodvibes

I am really interested in taking the tour, but probably wouldn't be able to purchase this year. Is it stupid to take the tour if you can't buy in this year but maybe next year? I also have 3 kids with me, do they provide childcare to do the tour?

We took the tour two years ago on our last visit and I learned a ton! They do have child care and a very cute area for the kids. I think it would be stupid not to take the tour if you are even thinking about it. Go, learn, and have a great time. Be clear to your self that you are not ready so they do not talk you into it. They can be very persuasive! I am planing on going for our trip in August and I know we are going to do resale not direct.... Want to see Bay Lake room and get the incentives.

We have been members for about 10 years or so. A few months ago we purchased a small contract at Boardwalk. DH asked our guide at the time if there were any "offers" available. He told us for a resort that was considered sold out they didn't typically have any offers. But he told us to get with him the next time we were down and he'd give us some fastpasses. The ones he gave us were a card that was good for 3 fastpasses, had to be used within 7 days (I think) of issue. When we would put them in a machine it would give us a return time for the current time so we could go right in. It said that they were not good once fastpasses were gone for the day. But there were some fastpass machines that were for fastpass exchanges (I think thats what they were called) Evidently if you did the volunteer program but didn't need a free admission you could get a fastpass - thats what these machines were for. Our card worked in them also. I don't know if they were supposed to, but we tried them and it worked. Had we visited him earlier in the week we may have used our passes differently, there were 6 of us - we all used our first one at Toy Story (which was great because the boys never thought to get there early enough to get FPs before they ran out). And then we all rode Soarin and Test Track together using our last two.

Since these weren't an incentive to get us to be new members I don't know if there are "better" incentives - but it was a nice perk for us to have during such a crowded vacation time (early June)
