Hi Folks:wave:

For those walking and for those who will get tired..

If you’d rather hoof it around town, look into author and guide Sharon Wells’ personalized one-two hour guided walking tours, which include the Key West Cemetery and Nancy’s Secret Garden (US$20; phone 294-8380 or 293-0255).

If you are concerned about doing it yourself consider signing up for the excursions offered on board or pre-excursion package. They may not be the least expensive way to see the island, but you won’t have to waste your limited time making arrangements yourself—and you won’t have to worry about missing the ship. Shore excursions—and their prices—vary from cruise line to cruise line. Some may include lunch and drinks and the number of stops may vary, so the final price may be greatly higher or lower than the prices listed below. (Fees for children vary from half price to full price.) Check your excursion package/excursion director or your travel agent for additional information.

Key West Old Town Trolley Tour—This narrated tour winds through the narrow streets of the historic section of Key West and visits more than 100 points of interest. 90 minutes. About US$15.

Bike Tour—See Key West’s engaging archi tecture, cultural sites and botanical delights on two wheels with cyclist guides. 2-3 hours. About US$30.

Glass-Bottomed Boat Tour—Visitors cruise the waters surrounding the Keys in an enclosed, air-conditioned boat that visits the harbor and a living reef. 2 hours. About US$20.

Sail/Snorkel Tour—A catamaran takes you for a sail off the Florida Keys, with a snorkel stop along the coral reef. 3 hours. About US$40.

Jetski Adventure—Drive a jetski on the tranquil waters of Key West, escorted by a professional guide. Each jetski accommodates two people. Drivers must be at least 16 years old; not suitable for children younger than 5 years old. 1-2 hours. About US$60 a person.

Fishing Tours—Deep-sea fishing, light tackle fishing and flats fis hing for bonefish are three types of expeditions that take advantage of some of the best sportfishing waters in the U.S. Prices and times vary.

LOCAL TOUR COMPANIES

If the ship-sponsored excursions are full or if you prefer to arrange your own guided tour, there are several reputable tour operators in Key West. Your ship’s shore excursion staff can tell you how to contact tour operators once you disembark. If you book your own tour, you might save a few dollars—but keep in mind that it will take some time to contact the operators, comparison shop and make a booking.

Most of the island tours offered are similar to those arranged by cruise ships, but their prices may vary. The best known of the local tour companies is the Conch Tour Train, which isn’t a train at all but rather a series of open-air canopied trams. The nonstop 90-minute tour takes you past about 60 island sites. You can catch the train at Mallory Square, Quality Inn on Roosevelt Boulevard, the Key West Bight and Marina and th e Truman Annex. (Daily 9 am—4 pm; reservations not necessary; US$15 adults, US$7 children ages 4-12; phone 294-5161.)

You can also take the Old Town Trolley, an enclosed vehicle that makes 90-minute loops around the island. The trolley stops at 14 sites around the island. Riders can get on and off at will. Buy a ticket at the Mallory Square or North Roosevelt station. (Daily 9 am—4 pm; reservations not necessary; US$15 adults, US$6 children ages 4-12; phone 296-6688.)

WDWGoose: I believe that KW is 1 mile by 4 miles or somewhere about that area.

Hey Joe thanks for all the wonderful information!! Where do you get all of this stuff. Maybe we could just have tours of the various healthcare facilities, with all that are listed that could take the entire time on the island.

we have 49 days 16 hours until we are aboard the MAGIC!!!!!

well time to go chat!!
I have to call GaRRy in to asist with the conversation, but I will play typist as I am a little faster than 20 keys per minute.

Still no excursion info here in Wyoming, Pony Express must be down. Have all you other folks received the info????

46 days till we are off to warm weather... yes.

Hi Folks:wave:

I would think you should have the EXCURSION PACKAGE by now!

CMATT Can you see em?

Scott: Did you make you final payment? :p

Geese are probably out ice-fishing for Ship supplies?

Using DVC points so..... no worries mon bout de payment.

Made reservations for diving anyway just no info, bummer, I like info, info is good,
maybe today.

You know what is retarded...

I called my TA(Cruise.com) to ask about the excursion info, she called Disney and the Disney agent had no idea what I was talking about and said the excursion info would come with the tickets 3 weeks before the cruise.

Ironically enough, the excursion info was in my TA's mailbox that day. hmmmmm. Just makes you wonder if these people we are trusting with information even know what they are talking about or if they are talking out of their @#$.

Hopefully I should get the info today even though I have already made my ressies. I found the most wonderful sight for those of you who haven't figured out what they are doing in Coz yet. http://www.cancun.com/xcaret/index.stm

I am very glad I picked this excursion. It sounds like it will be a blast. You know, I also found a bunch of info on the cruisecritic forums that were listed in the post Hey all you Western Cruises. The links are(thank you RellingTwin):

Cozumel:
http://members.shaw.ca/stanmil/coz/coz.htm

http://cayman.com.ky/com/landsea/index.htm

Alot of them make mention of Captain Marvins. I booked the 2 hour excursion from 1:45- 3:45.

I guess this post is long enough for now....lol

Hi Folks :D

OK Who is the President of DCL? As patient as I am (not, Type A bigtime!) I cannot seem to get a definitive duplicate answer from these folks re theme nights/semi/formal nights. I read on another post somewhere that the rotations have changed but it mentioned 1,2,3,1,2,3,1? Is that the way the EASTERN cruise is done vs PALPALP, ALPALPA. LPALPAL etc?

Does this make a difference anyway?

Can anyone see the fish in the previous post? Those are for CMATT if he ever gets around to see it?????? Still playing MOM?
Here is a heads up for next week chat
DisChat
Ok, so now you have no excuses...just have to register:p

Different info from Disney seems to be the norm rather than exception. Not sure why, maybe just a lack in internal communication. We went through this with our AP renewal. Had info from Disney that we would get 100 extra days. Got to the park and nada, zip zilch. Very inconsistent and frustrating for us type A minus types.

I see fish. Now I want to see them swimming.

Off to class for me, Later.

Hi Folks

If you have the time and are thinking about excursions on Cozumel, you may want to go to the link below. You can either read the top thread or expand it. Quite a few pages of comments on the place and this should help you decide whether to take a DCL sponsored trip or do it on your own. Save the moola! Moo=Cow=animal. Did we pick up the cow at a Key West Hospital?

Cozumel Info for ya!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Was just over on the DCL site checking some future sailings. For the heck of it I put in May 2002 and 5/11/02 was NOT listed. I guess we are really sold out. Anyone hear anything "official" on this?
Seven weeks from right now we'll be on board!!!
:bounce: :bounce:

Hi Gang,
Had a great time in Cruise Chat last night after I finally figured out how to get in!!!!
Thanks everyone for all the great info on the points of interest. I do however have a question about excursion reservations.
Do you have to pay for the excursions when you make the reservation? Or are they added to your bill at the end of the trip?
Nothing from DCL except payment in full confirmation. I'd really like to have their info in front of me before I decide what we're gonna be doing.
We're pretty sure we're gonna rent scooters and tool around Key West on our own. Watch out for the crazy couple with the skinny kid on the back!!!!!!!!!
Enough for now, back to the domestic drudgery!!
Ta-ta
