No political debate. Just wondering if you 're going and which one? I have a couple in mind but need to find a sitter. Im off the 19th and 20th. The 23rd we're off to Port Canaveral and the Magic.

:) No. That's not something I'd ever have an interest in doing.

Have a great time, though. I love to look at pictures of other people enjoying themselves at balls.

I'd LOVE to do it, but A) not living in DC and B) having no conections to anyone that would have tickets, I don't think it's ever going to happen!

No way. DC is going to be crazy that week. We're going to hunker down, hide out, and wait for it to all go away so we can get back to our normal quiet lives.

We were considering buying a package, but then read that those balls are not at all what you'd imagine. Sub-par food, crowded as all get-out, and most are comprised of people just like you hoping to see someone famous. No thanks...

I don't have a gown...;)

For the record, anyone and their brother has a "ball" for inauguration. The President elect usually hits about 6-10 of the hundreds of balls going on that night. They usually arrive, dance for about 5 minutes and leave.

Having been before, traffic is a nightmare and depending on security, personal cars may or may not be allowed in some areas. Taxis need to be booked now. Limo service is probably already booked. This will be made even worse by the recent decision to allow the bars to remain open all night.

I'm glad I went to the one I did to because not everyone can say they've been, but I don't think I'd do it again. Like a PP said - mediocre food, watered down drinks and people hoping to one day "be someone" is the norm for these things.

Whose did you attend?

I received an invite to the Grits and Granite Ball. Its $300 a couple (reasonable) and black tie optional, but we would rather be well dressed.
I do have a lovely dress that I wore to the Miss America Pageant a couple of years ago. DH has a decent dressy suit but he would rent a tux anyway. I am not sure if we will go. Still thinking but leaning toward going.
Anyone else going to the Grits and Granite?
