Inappropriate screaming.

I encountered a screamer once on RnRc that completely ruined the ride for me.

Everybody screams a little on a thrill ride - it's expected. But this girl, who looked to be about 24 years old or so, started screaming like a banshee the instant her butt hit the seat, before the restraints were even in place. She screamed so loud, throuogh the entire ride, that I actually couldn't hear the Aerosmith music! I got off the ride with a splitting headache, just from her rusty-king-kong-gate, tee-kettle on crack, incoming-mortar-shell screetching.

I was very angry, but didn't say anything. Looking back, I now wish I had.

I *hate* fake shrieking or screaming. If you're really scared or hurt, fine, but otherwise it is childish and annoying. (FTM, I don't put up with children doing it for fun, either.)

We had group of girls doing it on HM when DS was little and had just gotten up the nerve to ride. I rounded on them and sternly told them to knock it off -- that it was scaring the little kids. They actually stopped AND apologized. I actually find that is the usually the best way to deal with it -- the shock of getting called down by adults who are not their parents is sometimes enough to get them to quit.

We had obnoxious teens in our boat on PoC...they screamed, talked loudly about everything under the sun, and started splashing each other with water. Ruined the whole experience for us! Why is it you never have a stun gun when you need one?

Don't worry. By splashing that nasty water on each other, they got what was coming to them a few days later in the form of Florida's very own version of Montezuma's Revenge. That water is not kept up to swimming pool quality by any means. They just put chemicals in to keep it from stinking, not to keep it clean and safe. "Please keep hands and arms inside the boat" That pretty much cover's their liability with it.

An engineer CM friend of mine was working overnight there when another CM fell in the water. He said management treated the guy like he had been exposed to radioactive waste. They forced medical treatment on him, even though his only bruise was his pride.

Nothing annoys me more...no need for that annoying, immature shrieking, it is most unbearable!!! Well, perhaps I am equally annoyed by badly behaving young children throwing tantrums and receiving no discipline from the parents! Ya know, if you don't stop, you won't get this or you won't get that or we'll leave, and it NEVER happens, that just annoys me to no end!

Far too often kids are pushed to the limit by their parents while in Disney.

It's tempting to do as much as possible on a given day, but children are not little adults, they're children. A child can only take so much walking, sun, thirst and sensory overload. What appears as a tantrum, may possibly be a meltdown by a child too young to voice "I'm tired, thirsty, hot & I need to lie down". I find it frustrating to see a parent pushing a child beyond their limit. It's important to know when to stop.

If they were to discipline them for parent induced exhaustion, well that would be adding insult to injury.

My husband's niece will be one of those annoying screaming teen cheerleaders at WDW in March. I'm sure she'll be extremely annoying and if she's anywhere near her mother at the time, you'll probably get to listen to hear yell and scream along with dropping the F-word a few dozen times.

This is hubby's half-sister's youngest and she is such a spoiled rotten brat. When we were down in NJ visiting them over the summer, we spent a weekend in the same beach house and I think she acknowledged us once. The majority of the time she was there, she was either shut up in the bedroom or off with her friend. When she was in the house, all she did was scream and swear at her mother. A month later, she turned 17 and what did Mommy buy her? A new car. I told hubby, NEVER would our child get a car for their birthday if they ever talked to us the way she does.

So, for anyone going down around St. Patty's Day when the cheerleaders are there...good luck to you.

We were at MGM last Saturday w/about a gazillion cheerleaders and I was thinking if they weren't there the park would have been empty....and quiet!!!

We went to MGM last Friday and the place was completely empty...no wait for anything. We were there right at 9 am and by 11 alot of cheerleaders were there but they didnt bother me at all.

We did see a ton of cheerleaders at MK on Sat but we were there early and left the park by noon. I have to say they were well behaved...from what I saw

I agree 100%- we were in the first room of the haunted mansion with several small children including my little one- some person thinking they were being "cute" screamed at the top of their lungs startling everyone in the room when the lights went out- they were adults - not young kids playing-they scared my infant to death-he shook and cried non stop after that- he was too little ( 9 months ) to be scared because of the ride- I was so angry- he cried and cried, I couldn't get him soothed no matter what I did for the rest of the ride!

I'll tell you something- I don't know why security wasn't called on me because when I got done with that person after we got off of the ride- well, lets just say- my Dh stood there with his mouth open- later he said he didn't know I had "that" kind of gumption in me!

You go girl There is always somebody who thinks they are cute and has to ruin it for the little ones and for the parents of the little ones.I would have done the same thing if it had been me.

I couldn't ride a thrill ride w/o the screaming. Not fakey screaming but real 'weee' or 'woooo' screaming. Can't help it. I think it takes away the fear or something. I'd probably die if I did Splash Mtn w/o screaming, and what a headline that would make.

There was a french couple in front of us who said something in french & kept turning to give us dirty looks. My friend understood them enough to know what was coming next & warned me as they turned & spit on us. First of all, we were enjoying the ride & not THAT loud...although mild, it IS a roller coaster & second, that was really uncalled for. And btw, never been a cheerleader so it wasn't that high pitched yell you are talking about.

I don't think anyone minds the regular giddy screaming that people do during the more exciting parts of coaster or other thrill rides. Genuine fright or surprise is fine with me. It's the continuous high-pitched *screaming* that some people do that drives me, and most people I know, absolutely bonkers.

If I were purposely spit on by someone on a ride I would call security and file assault charges.

When we were at DLP with my sister and her family, me, hubby, niece and BIL all went to the Haunted Mansion. When we were in the cars, at one point, hubby just yelled to BIL (not too loudly, but enough for him to hear), "Save me [bil's name]." Everyone thought it was funny and he really only did it once, not a constant thing.

I agree. I hate the fake screamers. I dont mind if you are really scared. I have been known to let out a scream or two on TOT during the drops. But the fake screaming is very annoying, and can really scare little kids, when there is no need to.

We wee on HM last year with our then 2.5 year old DS. The car behind us had a father & a preteen son who thought it was funny to scream constantly & see who was louder.

My son yelled out "Stop being big babies! If you're to scared to ride stay home!"



Even my 2.5 year old knew they were being rude to others. They stopped pretty quickly.

Since becoming a Mother, I usually will tell people to cut it out because they are making the younger ones nervous. Usually they stop pretty quickly.

I dotn think i've ever annoyed anyone and if someone asked me to stop for their little one totally, but i dont think its ever been that annoying or long. But yes I have seen some of those but I hate more are the constant talkers on rides, kinda ruins for you, you know they are just yapping away as the boat takes you thru pirates..lol...
about the spitting, well that person probably wounldnt have made it to the platform, i would have kicked them right off the train....(j/k) but very uncalled for, a dirty look or a comment one thing but to actaully spit , wel that is just disgusting!!!

The worst of this that we encountered was not on a ride at all, but during "wishes", and it was an entire family SHOUTING over exagerated "Oooos" and "Awwwws" during the entire fireworks show. Every pop,, explosion, tiny burst, they all let out at the Top of their lungs, laughing in between. It really ruined the whole show, thought my husband was going to burst, trying not to say anything. Must have been about 10 in the party, ranging from 2-60.

If you're making stupid/silly noises on rides, then I bet you have annoyed someone.

Maybe now that you know how much it bothers most of the rest of the world, you won't have to do it anymore.

I think there's a major difference between screaming at the top of your lungs when it's not called for (like before the ride even starts) and laughing, or weeing during the ride. You're supposed to enjoy the ride, but maybe you should reevaluate your definition of enjoyment if it involves screaming at the top of your lungs from the time you get in the seat.

Both Stitch and Star Tours was ruined for us by these types of people... we don't particularly want to do either again because of it. When the screaming in Stitch was SO BAD that we couldn't even hear him in our ears... that's just ridiculous!

We encountered this on Soarin. It was our last ride of our trip and we were next to a family of about 6. They were not letting out the high pitched scream but just the ooo's and ahhh's - really loud. It was mainly the dad - he would not stop!! They were speaking Spanish so I don't know everything they said, but I think it was just "look at that" over and over! It was seriously for the whole entire ride and really ruined it for us. I was really glad that it was not our first ride and that we had used FP and did not wait 2 hours for that!
