We have reservations for lunch at Be our Guest next month. I was initially extremely excited since the castle experience sounded so magical and I have heard that it is a popular place. However, looking over the menu I feel like there are not a lot of menu options that our kids are too excited about. Also, most of the popular lunch items are sandwiches and we plan to have sandwiches in our rooms each day for one meal. I have also read very mixed reviews on the lunch there. We are not big foodies, so we are mostly eating at quick service restaurants during the week. Food is not the most important thing to us on our trip. I just thought it would be fun to do one special meal. I am trying to decide if we should keep our reservation or cancel it. Is the magical experience of the castle alone worth eating there? If not, do you have a suggestion of another moderately priced but "special" restaurant we could try?

The castle is most magical at dinner, but though the mood is lacking somewhat at lunch thanks to the bright lights and seat yourself mode, it's still a fantastic counter service restaurant. You get to get out of the sun and heat, have your food brought to your table, and the prices are not bad for the quantity and quality of food. If that still doesn't sound good to you, then I would recommend Columbia Harbour House as an alternative quick service if you are okay with seafood. You might also look at Liberty Tree Tavern's lunch menu. The prices are reasonable for a table service environment.

We've eaten there at breakfast and lunch just to see what it was like and it was basically a one and done for both meals for us. We didn't think the food was that great, some of the rooms are beautiful but the noise level can get very loud. A plus is while you do seat yourself and get your own drinks, they do bring the food to you. I'd probably go at least once just to see the place but for us, if we are doing QS we are doing Pecos Bills, if we want to sit down and relax we are doing Skipper's Canteen.

Our dinner there was fantastic. Not a single complaint with food, service, etc. It was so good Im not repeating it again because I'm afraid it will tarnish my good memory haha!

We have lunch this upcoming trip - looking forward to eating the braised pork again with a CS credit!

You could always try to get a later dinner reservation and just have a drink and a cupcake :)

Totally worth it once for the experience, but we found the food at lunch to be underwhelming. The sandwiches were pretty subpar and the cupcake we got was super dry and tasteless. But the ambiance is awesome and makes the average food worth it. If you guys aren't too big into food you could always split meals to keep the cost down and still get the experience and then snack later in the park.

We did lunch once. While the large main room sounded like a High School cafeteria, the back room with the rose was quite peaceful. The food was lackluster so once was enough to experience the ambiance.

I agree, BOG isn't just about the food. It's neat to just be in the castle. We found the food to be just fine. And like a PP said, it's an nice, cool place to take a mid day break. And it's the rare QS where you don't have to stand in a hot line to order. They bring the food to you. I'd keep it!

We've done lunch and dinner at BOG and it was very different. Dinner was rather elegant with a very attentive waiter and, of course, getting to meet the Beast after dinner!

Lunch was good, but mostly for the atmosphere. Same rooms, decor, etc etc except way less money. The food was decent (not great) but good!

I think it's worth it for the atmosphere alone. You literally feel like you're in the movie. it's almost kinda creepy. I'm a sucker for great theming at restaurants though!! And the theming, including the waiting area outside the castle, the bridge to the castle, every corner of it is amazing to look at! And you only get to see it if you have a reservation.

Honestly? Keep your reservation, just to do it at least once! If not, every single time you walk past BOG you're gonna think "dang, why didn't we go in there when we had the chance?"

We only went once so far and from now on is a definite must do if not for the food then for the experience and atmosphere .. I made 2 reservations this trip and we can't wait last time we sat in the music box room but this time I'm hoping for the rose room.

BOG was a WDW bucket list item for dinner for us. Since Beauty and the Beast is one of the girlfriend's favorite movies we had to do it at least once. The food was really good and the castle was amazing. I am not sure I would want to go there for lunch or breakfast though. I think it was great for dinner. I would go back there again for dinner.

If there aren't meals that appeal to your group, you might consider grabbing lunch elsewhere (or packing sandwiches in) and then just doing lunch dessert at BOG. We haven't tried them, but the cupcakes seem to be pretty popular and it would be a way to enjoy the ambiance without spending a lot or ordering food that your kids might not eat.

We've done breakfast (1x), lunch (4x) and supper (2x) at BOG. We really enjoy it there. DH, oldest DD and I like the braised pork and veggie quiche for lunch; however, youngest DD doesn't really find anything too appealing on the menu, so we just order fries and a cupcake for her lunch (pay OOP). She is fine with that for her lunch and we all enjoy the castle. Being able to refill your own drinks is nice too. We try to do BOG at least twice a trip (we go to Disney once a year). Lunch and dinner are our favourites.

In my opinion YES its an ABSOLUTE MUST DO!
I've eaten lunch at BOG 7 times soon to be 8.
I like sandwiches so I would not mind having a sandwich twice in one day. Often times at WDW I do end up having some form of a sandwich for lunch and dinner.
Personally I like the roast beef sandwich.
And the strawberry cream cheese cupcake is to die for!
The atmosphere is very magical.
If you don't think you'll enjoy it then don't go but for me it is a must!

It's been 2 year but we enjoyed our lunch at BOG and are planning another for our next trip. I liked the food as did the rest of the family. The desserts were just ok. I think only you can determine if it's a must do.

If there's a BATB devotee in your party, then it's a must. Otherwise, no one in our group was especially impressed with the lunch we had there. We'd probably give dinner a shot, but it's not a priority.

Thanks to all for your opinions. Queen of the WDW Scene or others who have had the roast beef sandwich, is the meat rare? My six year old and I were going to split that, but it had a good safety warning about undercooked meats being unsafe, so I wondered if it would be really rare. I don't like rare meat and don't feel safe feeding it to a young child....

I was just able to get a almost last minute ADR -BOG for dinner- 10/31/16@8:15 during the Halloween Party. It really is the only evening we will be in MK and the idea of dining there in our costumes, having a nice glass of wine and a lovely place to sit during a crowded night sounds perfect...I only hope it doesn't keep us from seeing a parade and the fireworks. Any thoughts? I am still stalking the website in case the dessert party opens up for 3- I would trade immediately. I have a special needs son in a wheelchair so a close spot for the parade will be priority and a challenge. ..so to re ask the OP- is BOG a must do?

Once? Yes. The castle is really amazing. The rooms are spot on with the movie. Be sure to check out each room.

For food, Ill never go back. I have my pictures and have seen it all, I prefer practically every other restaurant at MK over this one. It wasnt disgusting...just really Mehhh. We had breakfast and dinner (made my ressies before I knew it was Mehhh.) I heard lunch is the best meal there...so you could get lucky food-wise.

Oh..and the BIGGEST disappointment... The "Grey Stuff". It was not delicious. It was like a packaged brownie you would find at the check out counter of a gas station topped with grey cool whip.

I think that war5ning is to cover their butts.
I have not had an issue with the roast beef.
Its slices of roast beef cooked to my satisfaction.

Imagine a large cafeteria inside the a Castle Ballroom. That's lunch for us.

On the other hand - dinner can be more intimate and includes Meet'n'Greet with The Beast.

However - MK has so few options. The newest table service, Skipper's Canteen, has more exotic foods that seem awkward for a self-described non-Foodie like you. But Liberty Tree likely meets your needs at lunch more than Tony's and/or Plaza.

Did I answer your question?? BoG at lunch - meh. Dinner - YES!
