....restuarants are more "upscale", but would count as 1 TS?



We are taking advantage of the 4+3 and the DDP. The palettes are varied (DD's 12 and 9, me, my mom--a steak lover, and my grandmother, who LIVES AND BREATHEs the finest things in life). They have left all the ADR's to me, and I want to accomodate granny's taste for uber-luxuriousness while also accomodating my kids.



Please say you have advice for me? I didnt want to use all of our TS credits for 3 nights of dining, esp as we have already booked dinner at CRT--but that is NOT on par with CF or V+A.

We didn't go, but I am thinking Kona @ the Poly might work. We went to Ohana...excellent choice for meat eaters!!! (also yummy!)

Don't know how some of the people in your party feel about buffets, but our other favorite was Boma at AKL. I was very surprised by this one...very good! Beautiful resort!

We went to Coral Reef for t'giving during our last trip. The service was so-so, we weren't looking to go back this time.

I will check out the menus at the ones suggested.

I always feel I need to say that we eat at 'off' times & travel at 'low' visitation periods. We think the busier a restaurant is the more the chances of getting haphazard service or slapped together food.

We went to Coral R for an as soon as they open lunch twice last year, once in May and again in mid November & the service we received was excellent & the food tasty. Not outstanding but very decent. Both DH & I had the blackened catfish & DS19 had the barbecued salmon sandwich. The sandwich was visually very lush looking & well presented. It also tasted very good.
Previously I had the grilled mahi mahi, which was unimpressive, not at all bad just very so-so, IMHO.
I will say the poor place looks as if it needs a little refurb, a little TLC. I always feel like I want to paint it & scrub that carpet!
We like to get the 1st row, on the ground floor, of banquette seating as opposed to the tables right up at the tank windows. You can see marvelously well & don't have to put up with people walking up to get a closer look at the fishies and crowding your table. Doesn't always happen, but a heads up.

The Wave, at the Contemporary, we thought was very good & we all really loved the decor.

May I suggest Teppan Edo? You can get beef & shrimp there & the kids might like the little cooking show. I understand other teppan chains put on more elaborate shows but we found it pleasant & the staff veeerry eager to please. You are seated with others & the tables accommodate 8. Maybe someone here knows if there are larger or smaller tables available. Anyway, you will be seated with other park goers.
We also loved Tokyo Dining (same building). We had the same wonderful service. Again beef, chicken & shrimp available as well as childrens meals.
Note: the green tea pudding is to die for!

We also very much like Chefs de France
Captain's Grille in the YC is enjoyable, too.
We also like Spoodles.
The last time we've been to all of the above was this past November

I think Tokyo Dining was the one of the most upscale 1TS restuarants we visited, both in terms of decor and service. The Wave also felt quite upscale, in fact I felt a bit underdressed there, as there were lots of business men dining in suits.

I would recommend Les Chefs de France. You get a surprising number of people complaining about bad experiences there but I've always found it to be a wonderful experience. (Perhaps due to peak times as jonestavern suggested) Good service, nice atmosphere, really good food. (I would recommend the Shrimp and Scallops)

DH & I felt that Tutto Italia was more like a signature restaurant. The meals are expensive and the restaurant itself if very nice. The waitstaff was also very professional.

I like Coral Reef, but our experience there this past year wasn't really "upscale." We had a lunch ADR, and the food was really good. But the noise...oh my, the noise!

With all those hard surfaces, everything gets amplified. You could clearly hear a fork drop across the restaurant. Combine that with screaming children every time something big swam by...it sounded like a cafeteria to me.

I think many of the Epcot WS restuarants will fit the bill. Chefs de France, Tutto Italia, Tokyo Dining, Le Cellier, even Restaurant Marrakesh. At the resorts, try Kona Cafe and The Wave.

I bet granny might like going to the GF for the GF Cafe too. I've never eaten there, but I've seen many good reviews.

The Coral Reef is very pretty and the menu rather "shee shee, poo poo" in my opinion. The chicken dish I had was good but a little salty. It is very noisy in there!

LeCellier had the best food of the trip. Service was very good as well, attentive and friendly. Dessert was very slow to come out but worth it!

Tutto Italia, LeCellier felt most upscale to us.

Kona was bit noisy due to its open wall style, but we felt the food was the nicest we had our whole trip. Le Cellier was nice, but the plating and portions were nicer at Kona.

Le Chef's would probably top the list for me but I have to say that I much prefer going offsite and to the restaurants on Sand Lake Rd. After that I'd pick Le Cellier I think.

We loved The Wave and I would describe it as upscale - the service was excellent and the food was terrific. We also love Le Cellier and Chefs de France; we only like Coral Reef, unfortunately the food wasn't the best that day, although our server was really good.

I agree with many posters here; the places at Epcot's WS are probably the best 1 TS. Coral Reef, not so much. Fun place, definitely not "upscale".

I have been to CR several times; I would have to agree that it isnt upscale. I'd probably classify it as mid-scale.....fancier than Sci-fi, woefully short of Victoria and Albert's.


ah, dilemna's, delimna's!! I did like the look of the menu at Il Tuttio(sp?). I fear that some of my party has not delevoped a palette fine enough to try the exotic nature of the French resturants.


Wait a second...I thought LeCellier was a 2TS deal?
