In the GHETTO?

OK, I plan arriving late the night before my check in date, was just going to boondock at a wally world for the night. Get supplies in the AM and come on in. So for those of you that have been there I have a question, there are a couple of wal marts close. My plan was to stop at #3, but I just wanted to know if it was in the ghetto, was it a safe area to spend the night.

:confused3 Was the use of this terminology really necessary? Could it have just been asked if the store parking lot in this area would be considered safe to park in overnight? I would imagine that someone could be a target in any area if one "boondocks" where it isn't allowed regardless of the socioeconomic and other background of the community :sad2:

Took 14 days and 20 posts before someone complained.

Guess the rest of us aren't as PC and 2P2P. :confused3

Would subbing "da hood" have been any better than ghetto? My staff call it da hood all the time and none of them get offended. And I have a VERY diverse staff.

notoriously most of the surrounding area of any said wal marts turn to crap-O-la...... why do you think most proposed future wal mart sights are met with a wall of opposition, petitions, and town council meetings with the entire room filled with concerned home owners in the surrounding area.............

no one ever accused me of being "politically correct":lmao: thank god!

so you can use your 0.50$ word socioeconomic  Ill use GHETTO:woohoo:

2 week old thread..............really?:rolleyes1:

We always stop at the eagles roost in valdosta they have the paperwork hanging on the board waiting for us when we arrive late. Also the sites are level pull thru concrete

Kinda makes ya wonder if people just troll for things to complain about,,dud'n it :lmao:

PC version:
It sort of makes a person think to themselves if others simply look for threads to complain about, doesn't it .

 Good luck with that and your trip :thumbsup2

Being new to these boards, I now see that (based on the posts following mine) being "politically correct" and using "$0.50" words isn't fitting in the company of this forum

Being new to these boards,
WELCOME to the Camping forum. I noticed your post count was way above mine, so I figured you were one or the "regulars". Sorry I missed the opportunity to say HI!

That's the funny thing about forums. There are people from all over the world on here and what is acceptable in one region or country is considered non-PC or even offensive in others. As far as $.50 words, as long as you make your point so others know what you mean, feel free to use $1,000,000 words.

I think what is not "fitting in the company of this forum" is chastising someone for the way they posted something that you, personally, felt was wrong. Perhaps a better way of expressing your concern would have been a PM to the OP pointing out that , where you are from, that word/phrase could be interpreted as a slur.

I'd take Marty up on his beer and chair and enjoy the place. (He can keep is Havanas. Those things will kill you. :rotfl2:)

I jumped in earlier because I thought it strange that this topic had been up for 2 weeks and had pretty much died without anyone saying anything.

To be honest, I dont smokem either, they were given to me as a gift.........so I play it FWD. Although I dont smokem, I just cant bring my self to throw out some Havana's:cool1:

using the term "ghetto", particularly in all capital letters, symbolizes a particular image of a community of people .

That was my intention!!

I dont want to over night in a GHETTO type area, so I asked............

Hey I could have used alot worse (the whole glass is 1/2 full sinereo here)

btw Im chilling your beer rt now:thumbsup2 actually I always have chilled beer........mans best friend, garage fridge!, but Ill have yours (and mine) ICED down at the fort

wait can I say ICED in all caps and not offend anyone? let me check the urban dictionary

ICED:

1. To be on Crystal Methamphetamine (Ice).
2. To be murdered
3. To be blatantly ignored by someone who knows you
4. To be excessively adorned with jewelry and/or conspicuous clothes and other bling accoutrements

Hmmmmm, nothing about cooling down beer.............guess Im out, but hey it seems to be up for grabs as to what anyone else wants to think it means

Moving on. And back on topic.

Marty,
Did you ever decide where you are going to stay?

I have reservations at the KOA in Valdosta. Looks about 3 hours from the fort and gives me a 12 or 13 hour day on Friday. 3 hours in on Saturday morning will be fine. Figured I'd shoot for arriving around 11 or 12.

Same here but we are stopping in Lake City, Fl (12-13hr marker for me too) and a quicky rv stop "in and out RV" no frills, all pull throughs, fuel on station, 2.5 hrs from the FT www.InandOutRVPark.com we will pull in around 6p relax get some dinner and turn in when it gets dark. Up again early and head out. Stop for supplies just before the FT and head on inso Im thinking no later then 10. If our site is not ready the kids already have plans for the pool :)

I thought Walmart allowed over night stays, most all I have seen they do. let me check my google earth, I coulda swore when I was checking out that wally world I saw RVs in the lot

edit: Yep 2 5th wheels, 2 TT, one motorhome, and 3 semi tractor trailers all parked in the lot.

Ill give it a try, guess the worse I will have to do is move..........

thanks!!

I believe if you go to the Walmart website, there is a list of Walmart stores that allow RV parking overnight. Not all do. I once read that Walmart leaves it up to the store's manager. Just check with the manager.
