Hey ya'll! The COB warm up round has begun......

This is us, remember?
001_0607.jpg

Yep, body by Bud... or Miller in Rick's case.:scared1:

It is the morning after night #1 in PI........

So I'm a sucker for Happy Hours soooo seeing the Raglan Road sign on our walk... we had to have a couple Shandys to start the festivities!
IMAGE_030.jpg

We met Josh bartending at The Hole in the Wall bar and started chatting about the awful facade for T-Rex. It's beyond blah! And how business is a bit slower this summer and tips on average have decreased...(heck, I'd adopt all of them but I have bartenders in New Orleans I already support!)

But I digress.... We continued our search for COB over at the Westside at Bongos savoring our favorite......wait for it....... MOEGEETOES!!!!!
IMAGE_032.jpg

Oh yummy........:thumbsup2

So we sat, sipped, and people watched, and talked to John, who made our lovely drinks. FYI- the "nightclub" here is on Fri and Sat night and is not really a big crowd according to John.

So, on to the COB- Pleasure Island adventure! At 7 we went to get our tickets. If you get a $21 multiclub ticket you can still upgrade to 5 nights for $5. However, when I layed out my AP, DVC card, and DDE card and asked the fellow which would give me the best deal (the DDE should have) he told me none of them...

HUH?!? WTH?

Yep, no more discounts on multinight upgrade. Disney's intent on milking this for every dime they can get. :sad2: Shame on them!

So we grudgingly pay full price for our tickets and skip merrily to........the Adventurer's Club. Mecca. Shangri La. Paradise. You get the picture. This is my oasis in a sea of Mousedom.

And of course....the blender is broken.:guilty: Guess it's too late to suggest they just get a new one?!?
But a Kungaloosh on the rocks is better than none at all.....
IMAGE_033.jpg

So, we caught up with some of our friends there. Laura went to sommelier school and is looking for a wine job...somewhere. I told her to come to New Orleans.

Then headed to Mannequins, which was actually kinda crowded. We were disappointed that the light wall is already gone and there were "poser" girls doing their thing up there. Kinda blurry, sorry, cell phone camera.

Bobby, our favorite guy at PI, was working the bar right as you go in the door. Go visit, tell him we said hi! He's been there forever and a day and has put in for a couple DVC resort bars after the close. We're hoping he gets our "home" at WL but no one knows anything yet. So we closed out the night with Grape vodka, sprite and cranberry and whatever Rick had. Oh and shots.....I am getting too old for these by the way.......wayyyyy to old.
IMAGE_037.jpg

Needless to say, my head hurts. But, when Rick started dancing by himself on the dancefloor(wish I had a pic of THAT one!) it was time to go! :dance3:

So, we'll see what tonight brings. I think we found COB somewhere in there, but I gotta go verify that, right?!?

This COBette is heading out to AK and Everest!

Our local paper had a recipe in it a couple of days ago for a Strawberry Honey Moe-gee-toe...sounded yummy!

:drinking1 Wahoo, sounds like you know how to have a good time.... Can't wait to read more.

Great start, guys!! Loving the live trippie. Was The Man (The Mouse) keeping you from recording video? Hope not. I was told when there on July 4th that the blender had been "removed" by The Man (read: corporate jackholes) because "It was too noisy."

Heaven forbid the AC get L-O-U-D!! MAKING ITS' SIGNATURE DRINK NAMED FOR IT'S FREAKING CATCHPHRASE/SLOGAN/SALUTE!!! :scared1: What the * is that?!?

I asked "If I BOUGHT you a blender with Noise Reduction Technology" tomorrow could I have a Kungaloosh? The next night they told me "We're getting one."

BLENDERGATE!!!!

Have a great time, you guys. I hope you took actor/character pics last night and will again tonight. I love to the the faces move from character to character and costume to costume....

KUNGALOOSH!! or at least JUNGLE JUICE!!! :drinking1

We make them! That's how we got started in New Orleans. The big ones only really come out for Mardi Gras anymore but there'll be some un ones on the cruise!:thumbsup2 Beads make a group into a party!

Our local paper had a recipe in it a couple of days ago for a Strawberry Honey Moe-gee-toe...sounded yummy!
Eh, did you happen to copy that recipe down? Care to post it? I'm always looking for something fun! DL has a ginger beer one that's yummy too. Is it bad to look forward to a trip so you can have a particular drink?!?

The Man wasn't stopping people from taping, but alas we haven't stopped to get the video camera yet. Maybe tomorrow. Apparently that was blown way out of proportion. The lady we were talking to last night works parttime as a door person and knows the people it happened to. Apparently a couple of managers from the other clubs were the ones causing the stink. We were told last night to bring the camera and fun!

And in answer to your question on the other thread- they do still have the pins and are still giving them out. I'm trying to weasel one out of them! And they still have the souvie glasses and buckets.:yay:

Thanks!! We didn't see souvenir glasses when we were there, other than the PI "reduced price refills" plastic jobbies.

Dibs on The Colonel and Slappy at the auction!!!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!

:jester:Laissez les bon temps rouler!!!:jester:

Alrighty then! After a brief but fruitless jaunt looking for the Disney outlet(anyone know where that darn thing is?!?) we headed over to Animal Kingdom to Everest our little ole hearts out....oh, and say hi to Chad and Michael, friends of ours that reloacted here after Katrina. They're.....yep, you guessed it, bartenders. At Yakking Yeti no less.

And it's raining today. Again. So we fastpass then ride EE and repeat. And head over to the Yakker to check on the kiddlums.

hmm, that's not either of them but there's 2 open seats at the bar:woohoo: so we sidle up and make a friend! We're a friendly group.... M&C are off today (just our luck, really, it is) so we'll just have to do this again tomorrow. (ok, I'm good with that!) So Ricky gets his Safari Amber (which David tells us is ONLY $1 more for 21oz- whatta bargain! I love a budget minded guy) and I get a look at the drink menu. The sparkling sake I loved at Food and Wine Fest 2 years ago is on there- well, whatta ya know! Gar-con I'll have one of those!
IMAGE_044.jpg

It was lovely. Light and refreshing. I even got a sake cup to drink out of. Classy!

And even without ADRs we got to eat! Well, we had dim sum- if you can get a seat at the bar you can eat at the bar!:woohoo: :woohoo: Lest you believe all we do is drink....
IMAGE_042.jpg

We're staying offsite this trip at the Staybridge (thank you work for covering the points for this!) and I didn't realize you get free parking with an annual pass! I might have to renew that darn thing yet!

:rolleyes1

Loving the trip report - keep 'em coming! You crack me up, btw - I cannot wait to meet you guys on the cruise!!!:rotfl2: You do recall where the AA meetings were, right? Or as my husband will say...I'm not an alcoholic...they go to meetings ;)

Do Catholic alcoholics only go to meetings twice a year? (Christmas and Easter)

Here ya go:

Strawberry Honey Mojito

3 Strawberries
5 Fresh Mint Leaves
1 Tablespoon Honey
1 Lime
Ice Cubes
1-1/2 Ounces Light Rum
2 Ounces Soda Water

In a tall glass, combine the strawberries, mint leaves, and honey. Muddle them until the strawberries are well crushed and the mint leaves bruised.

Juice half of the lime into the glass. Cut the remaining half of the lime into wedges. Fill the glass two-thirds full with ice, then add the lime wedges. Pour in the rum and soda water. Stir gently and serve.

Paaaarty !!!!! Sounds like you guys are having a great time......KUNGALOOOOSH !!!!!!!!

I wanna meet you guys, and I thought my dd and I got into trouble :cool1: you sound like you are having way too much fun (if the is possible at Disney)

OK.. the Disney Outlet: there is one at Premium Outlet Mall just off 535 and Vineland. It is located just outside the food court near Starbucks. There is also one at the Prime Outlet on I drive near Festival Bay. I haven't been to this one yet, but hear its really big and has alot of stuff :) I suggest getting to Prime as soon as it opens (10am) or you may never find a place to park. grrrrrrrr took me 1/2 hr the other day when I just needed to drop something off for my dd :scared1:

I would tell ya to say hi to my bartender friends, but seems they all decided to take vaca the same week. oh well, will save me money

I look forward to reading more and enjoy your stay

Oh how i'd love souvenir stuff from the AC!! I'm pretty sure I won't make it there before they close up shop though...:(

Have a Kungaloosh for me!!

Thanks, we're headed there on our break today! We found the one at Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores last night.

I just gotta know - grape vodka!? Really? Is it good?
It's made by Three Olives. With the sprite and a splash of cranberry it tastes just like a grape nehi! Super yummy

Oh how i'd love souvenir stuff from the AC!! I'm pretty sure I won't make it there before they close up shop though...:(

Have a Kungaloosh for me!!
I'll see what I can find. And there will definitely be another Kungaloosh tonight!

So, we kinda relaxed last night. I know, how disappointing is that?!?;) :lmao:

We found one of the outlet stores and looked around came back and swilled Malibu cocktails down at the hot tub. Love me some Malibu and Diet Coke.:cloud9:

We then headed across the street to Giordano's for some eats. Rick stays near the one in Chicago and they take good care of him so we had to go see. We sat at the bar(see a pattern here?) instead of waiting for a table. Partook of a Peroni (moi) and a Stella Artois(Rick) and some appys-fried calamari for me and a combo plate for Rick.

We got a 10lb stuffed pizza to go. Well, close to 10. Really close. They have "stuffed" pizza with crust then toppings (mushroom, onion, sausage for us) then cheese, then crust again, then sauce, then a sprinkle or parmesan. It's huge! We have plenty leftover, I'll get a pic when I reheat it for lunch!

We are off to Toy Story Mania!
