Has anyone ever used the in-room safe? We will be traveling with some cash, passports, credit cards, etc. that we would prefer to put in the safe. Is it reliable? Thanks!

We use them every stay, never have had a problem. Just don't forget your code.

Yes they're safe to keep stuff in.

You can also use the lock boxes behind the front desk...........you have a key and front desk have a key........we use this as we keep quite a lot of stuff and it doesn't all fit in the room safe.

i use the safe when i check in if my room is not ready.
there is no charge for this perk.

i know the safes are excellent when it comes to keeping your valuables secured.
there is a poster on the boards that had left a large sum of money in the safe when checked out of the hotel.
it was remembered after they left and reached a different destination.
and it wasn't the next day when they realized what was left in the safe.

all was returned to them.

when you leave the room, some people will close the door to the safe.
(you are supposed to leave it open)
when that happens, staff have no idea of the lock combination that was used.
security department will have to be called to repopen the safe so you can have access to it.

so, if you check out of the hotel and don't check your safe, the new guests could not open it until security comes and does that.

How does the safe work? Do you set the code? Or is it a key like the lockers?

You set a 4 digit code, it has a buttons similar to a telephone

in wall safe set inside the closet in the room.

key pad with numbers.
instructions listed for usage.

each time you need to open the safe put in teh 4 digits you created for the code.

when you remove what you want from the safe, close the door and push "lock"

If you look at the sticky for RPR the first post has a picture of the safe in the rooms there.

You can't see the keypad, but gives you an idea of the size.

I've always used the in room safes when I travel... everywhere not just universal. One time a cruise one had a crack in it and mom's diamond earring got stuck!!! We go it out though. Always use universal ones and never had a problem. I sing a song to remember my code....
