In-Room Refrigerator Temperature

We are staying at Pop Century in September, and my wife take medication that needs to remain refrigerated. On our check in day we are going to Disney Springs while our rooms get ready. Does the resort offer temporary medication storage while we are out and about? Also, does anyone know what options are available for the rest of our stay if the beverage cooler is not cold enough?

I can tell you that Bell Services at the WDW resorts will store items for you that require refrigeration, if you drop them by yourself (they won't transfer them between resorts). Sorry, but I don't have personal knowledge of your second question regarding in-room options.

Beverage coolers go down to at least 40 many lower at least as cold as a normal refrigerator. It is best to see what temperature the medication should be stored at if it has a max of 45 or higher you will be fine.
Personally I have seen water slightly freeze when left in Disney beverage coolers for a few days. This however can also harm some medications.

We had issues with the beverage cooler freezing water and juice bottles. You should be fine. If not, is the medication in a small enough bottle that you could put it in the ice bucket and then into the fridge, or just keep replenishing the ice, or something like that? I know, a PITA, but if you are really worried, it'd work in a pinch. I have a soft-sided lunch bag that I use at work; if I put a ziplock of ice in it, it stays frozen for at least 10 hours. You could bring one with you, just in case. Once again, a PITA, but it works.

Yes, you can store refrigerated medicine with the front desk at the resorts as well as First Aid in the parks. WDW will encourage you to store your medicine rather than use thew refrigerators in the guest rooms, because in theory the latter is not designed for such and the integrity of the medicine can’t be guaranteed. In practice they do get cold enough, so it’s whatever you feel comfortable doing.

Seems many are concerned about temperature in those coolers. I’d bring a fridge thermometer to be sure.

Yeah, I bring half the house. I don’t care if I wear the same clothes every day (washed of course) , but hey , if you need first aid, sewing supplies, duct tape, Velcro, crayons, stickers, zip lock bags or binder clips, I got them.

You can definitely store your wife’s medication with Bell Services or the front desk for safety, and maybe bring a small fridge thermometer to ensure the in-room cooler is cold enough.

My experience with the beverage cooler was poor. Never got cold enough, food spoiled. We stayed at Pop. Now we travel with a cooler and get ice out of the machine.
I would check the storage instructions for your medication to see how cold it needs to be.
Have a great trip!

I have never seen those small refrigerators at any hotel to be particularly reliable at holding a specific temperature. Some areas too cold/others too warm. Mostly good for keeping a beverage chilled but I wouldn't depend on them for anything like medication where there is an acceptable storage range. If Bell Services provides a method of storing items requiring refrigeration probably is a good indication the in-room devices aren't particularly reliable.

Were the fregs that Disney used to have in the rooms store medication effectively? (that need to remain cold) I never put any medication in those.

We have been able to keep my wife's meds, that need to be refrigerated, in every fridge we have had in a WDW room for the last 20 years.

Is that recently as well? My husband now takes medicine that needs refrigeration so that's why I ask. Thank you.

I thought there were a small number of actual small fridges that you could request for just such purposes (i.e., medicine storage requiring refrigeration)?

We store milk and drinks in ours and never had an issue with the temperature. Milk didn't spoil and drinks were very cold.

Our beverage cooler at home is a consistent 34 degrees. I would put in a request for a refrigerator for medication as it may be a different brand. I know our adult son put a pint of B&J in the "freezer" and it melted. Good luck.

We are at Grand Floridian now with a beverage cooler and it’s freezing. Our water bottles are super cold
