In room gifts/drinks question

We have booked to stay at the beach club next year and this will be our first time staying onsite. I am super excited already and have started getting a few ideas panned out. I would really like to be able to order some drinks to be in our room on arrival, like a 6 pack of beer or a bottle of wine, just like we have done on our past disney cruises. I am having difficulty finding any information or prices etc for something like this, does anyone know if this is available and how you go about organising it? TIA

I'm not real sure about the items being in your room but we ordered some beer and wine from GardenGrocer.com. They deliver it to your resort around the time you request. Minimum order is $40 but we had no problem reaching that since we also ordered snacks for the parks. Hope this helps with you question.

i don't believe that anything can be in your room before you check in, so the beers will not be waiting for you.

The resort will not place anything in your room before you arrive, unless you're staying club level.

Hotels operate very differently than cruise ships. On a cruise, you book a specific cabin, and everyone arrives and departs on the same days, more or less at the same time, so it's easy enough to set up a room for a particular guest's needs. At a Disney resort, room assignments are tentative. They're not finalized until a) you've arrived at the resort, and b) your room is cleaned and ready to be occupied.

As for getting the beverages, you can pick those up at the Beach Club Marketplace on your way to your room; they sell a variety of beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Beer and wine will also be available through in-room dining; you can call from your room phone when you arrive.

Both of those will be more expensive options than ordering from Garden Grocer or a similar service.

Thanks for your help! I've checked out the grocer website and it looks great. Will follow up on the other links later. I think I just presumed it would be just like the cruise line but it makes complete sense when you think about the room allocation process etc.
I just know what the hubby will need after about 14 hours of travelling especially when I'm going to want to dump the bags and head straight into Epcot! Got to have a 'keep him sweet' plan firmly in place :)

There's a wonderful selection of beers available in Epcot. Coming from BC, you'll walk into the World Showcase and it would be easy to grab a beer at one of the Kiosks there.

I agree with PlutoPony - having just come back from a stay at the Dolphin -- we took the boat to the International Gateway and walked into Epcot, we turned left and right in front of us was the Rose and Crown - several great UK beers and Ales, we hit Canada too, again great beers and then we went to Germany and Mexico.....we needed seeing eye dogs after that!

We use GG and it's awesome for beer and wine plus sundries. I check a bottle of Balvenie just in case I need something harder and cheaper than 50 buck an ounce at the bar.

When you order from garden grocer I'm guessing you just call bell services and they deliver it? Can you call them then head to the park and it'll be in the room when you get back or do you have to be there?

I have always been in the room for the delivery. That being said, I always had some grocery items that I wanted in the fridge (or freezer if we were in a villa). I'm not quite sure if they'll want to deliver groceries to the room without you there, and not sure about alcohol as well; maybe you should plan on being in the room for the delivery.

For parcels, like Amazon and once I ordered some comfy clothes for my kids from Hanna Andersson to be delivered to the room, they simply placed it in the room while we were out.

After you said you're going to Epcot right after arriving...I'd agree with a couple others, and just plan to get a beer as soon as you get into the World Showcase...much more options and a nice celebratory welcome to Disney!

You can always plan on having beer (and whatever else) delivered from Garden Grocer when you return to your room.

We have been told by numerous Bell Services that you can only request them to bring items stored with them when you call them from your room phone

I've had Amazon and other boxes shipped from home delivered when not in the room at the BWI, Swan, and Pop.

I've always been in the room for Garden Grocer deliveries, as I had things I needed to go into the refrigerator.

Lucky you. I had boxes shipped from home at BWI last month and I had to go to the convention center to get them. They would NOT bring them to the room, period.
At Pop, Poly, WL and AKL we had to be in the room to request them
Never stayed at Swan

This. :thumbsup2 We have had the same at every WDW resort we have stayed. We had to be in the room for all deliveries except our luggage directly from Magical Express.
