Help settle a debate in our house. My son and his girlfriend love playing rock, paper, scissors, everything. If you have never heard of this it’s basically where you do the 1,2,3 shoot of traditional rock paper scissors but then you call out a random item instead and then determine which one would win in battle between the two items. Well my son’s girlfriend picked Katana sword and he picked stop sign on the pole. We are split between which would win and it’s been debated in circles with no clear victor. So I said we will poll my friends on the DIS and see which is deemed victorious. Please give your reasoning as to why you think the sword would win over the stop sign or vice versa. :scratchin

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock...
I have that one on a shirt :teeth:

I've never heard of this new version, but it sounds fun!

In this case, I would say sword, because if the stop sign actually worked as a "stops everything" item, it would spoil the game. Therefore, it must be considered here as a blunt object weapon, in which case I agree the sword is easier to maneuver.

The stops everything scenario is clever and sounds like an official ruling - I like your explanation -

Thanks for all your replies 😊. @PollyannaMom I love your idea about the stop sign as a “stop everything” it’s a unique perspective.

I’ll tell you what I voted was stop sign and here’s why: yes a katana sword is sharp and long but not nearly as long as a stop sign on a pole even if it was held at the fulcrum to make it easier to maneuver. You could use the sign portion as a paddle to counter the sword but you could also use it on the sharp edge to slice the opponent before the length of the sword blade could reach the stop sign opponent. The sword would not be sharp or strong enough to slice the stop sign pole either. As you can tell this was highly debated 🤪
