In retrospect, DDP, DXDP or OOP for us?

So our family of 4 just returned from 5 nights and 6 days in the World. Myself, DW, DS7 and DD5. We utilized concierge for breakfast and some snacks and beverages. But also ate a ton of meals. Our meals were as follows:

Arrival Day -- Sunshine Seasons for lunch. Kouzina for dinner.
Day 2 -- Columbia Harbor House for lunch. Flying Fish for dinner, adults only.
Day 3 -- Hollywood Brown Derby Fantasmic package.
Day 4 -- Chefs De France for lunch. Tutto Italia for dinner.
Day 5 -- Columbia Harbor House for lunch (our travel companions really liked it), and Flying Fish for dinner (whole family, thought the kids would like it after first trip).
Day 6, Departure day -- lunch, San Angel Inn.

We did some snacking as well, but not a tremendous amount.

So based on that line up, does anyone think a dining plan would have been appropriate? Which dining plan?

I need to add up the receipts, but will post the OOP results within the next couple of days.

My guess would be OOP.

Excluding the adults only Flying Fish, you have 8 TS. That's 3 too many for the regular DDP, so 3 of those would be over the cost of the DDP. Then adding in the QS, you only have 11 total meals which is 4 less than you would be entitled to with DxDDP, so a loss of value there.

Of course a lot of this depends on what you ordered and how many snacks you had and were you satisfied with what you ate or would you have liked to have more (more snacks, more desserts, more drinks). I'll be interested to see your numbers.

I will say we were always satisfied. And I gained weight on the trip. In terms of beverages, I ordered alcoholic beverages 2 or 3 times, which wouldn't have been included.

The real question will be whether we would have been better off using the DDP for the 5 most expensive meals, and paying OOP for the rest.
I put all meals and snacks on the room, so I just need to break down the room bill, which I'll do first chance I get.

Without knowing what you actually had at the different restaurants (i.e., did everyone have their own appetizer, entree, and dessert at every sit down meal? Did you choose the $68 entree or the $30 entree?), it's purely going to be a guess as to whether one plan or another would have been cheaper.

My guess is you probably didn't spend enough to save anything had you picked DxDP, solely based upon the number of walk-up meals. You might have saved some money if you had strategically used DDP and done OOP with everything else. No savings with QSDP and OOP for everything else. You probably would have saved something with TIW.

Ahhh, if only I qualified for the TiW card. Then again, had I known I was going to take 2 trips in 1 year, I guess I should have gotten at least 1 annual pass and the TiW card. Oh well, didn't realize I was going to take 2 trips in 1 year.
