We'll be on our way to Ft. Wilderness :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I have to confess that I'm not much of a camping person-it's really hubby's thing but I am sooooo excited about this trip! Thanks so much to all of you kind folk here. I've learned a lot and really enjoyed all of the trip reports. Y'all even convinced hubby to build a Mickey lamp for me :lovestruc

If anyone is there October 9-16 and notices a kind of beat up old Airstream festooned with Saints and LSU tat stop by and say hi!

Well, unless you're sporting Gators gear and they beat up on LSU on the 9th! Hubby will need a couple of days to cool off ;)

I wish we could be there. The kids are off of school Friday but unfortunately they have baseball and football games that weekend. GEAUX LSU AND SAINTS!!

I wasn't a "camper" either, until I was introduced to Fort Wilderness!!! Seeing my kids have so much fun and my hubby so relaxed and being able to climb under my own sheets/ blanket in my own bed---well those are just a FEW of the things that changed my mind. I could also mention drinking coffee and spotting wildlife in the mornings, watching the fireworks and light parade from the beach while drinking wine (that I brought with me and didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for), the ease of getting to the parks, the absolutely incredible ribs and fried chicken from Trail's End...

I hope you and your family have a BLAST!!! Can't wait to hear about it when you return.

Geaux Tigers and Geaux Saints too!!!!!!

And Laissez les bon temps rouler, sha! :woohoo:

I am a 'Camper', however my idea of roughing it is my RV.
I am happy anywhere in my 'Vacation Home' on wheels, but no where happier than at Fort Wilderness.
Today is October 1, so one month from today I get to leave home. We have a 4 day drag race in Valdosta, GA. Then 2 days off. Then a 5 day race in Bradenton, FL. Then one day off. Then a 5 day race in West Palm Beach. Then yay, yippee and woohoo 7 days at the Fort.
I have a great life.

Thanks for the encouragement! We actually raised our kids on annual trips to Ft. Wilderness but that was a looooong time ago! I think it's been over 10 years since we've stayed at the campground. I've been cleaning out our camper and found a bag of old Disney brochures and things from a 1999 trip. It was like visiting an old friend. :)

Borquefam: I love your trip reports! I've been keeping up while we get ready for our own adventure !

Your post made me smile-We haven't been to Ft. Wilderness in a while but hubby does take our trailer to Bristol for NASCAR! We "camp" for a lot of music festivals too.

We Drag Race from February through October. I get to use my Vacation Home alot.
We always come south for the "Winter Series" racing and we always go to the Fort for R&R before heading home and starting all of the Christmas craziness.
I already have my Fort ressies made for next November. God Willing!

Good point----I can rough it in my camper anytime/ anywhere too!!! Just needed to break myself in at the BEST campground in the world---Fort Wilderness. Hope ya'll have an absolute blast in November!

And Jennifer, you are so lucky your hubby made you Mickey Ears. I showed my hubby pics, but he didn't take the bait. So jealous that ya'll are about to leave!!!! And I will expect a trip report when you return. I'll need several to get me all the way to May!!!

FWFans, too bad I just sold my McNeese vetmed prkg pass last weekend! I would've been happy to hook you up! I'll tell my buddies to keep thier ears open this weekend and let you know if I hear anything!

Thanks, we will have a great time.
Let me see, nice warm November in the south or cold, damp, crappy November in Pennsylvania?
Not a very tough decision.

I was at Bristol Dragway in May, Memorial Day weekend for a drag race.
Beautiful track.

I've never been to Bristol. DH goes with friends. They haul a ton of Louisiana seafood up there and feed half the race :)
