I'n NOT happy.....

Macraven, I didn't doubt that they were hitting you up for two bucks for water.

My point was that water should be free because keeping passengers well hydrated can ward off DVT and that is a health issue.

I bet they can get around it by stating they will offer you a "glass of water" but will not give you free bottled water. I am sure they thought there way around it before doing it. Soda never hydrated you anyway, only water did. They also charge for soda now too, don't they?

yes, soda is also $2 a can.
beer and mixed drinks increased by $2 also.

They tell you not to drink the water that is from the planes because it can harbor bacteria.:faint:
::yes::

They have to have something on the plane that you can drink for free. Maybe they have regular water.. not tap, but like cooler water. I am sure they would not risk a law suit by having only bottled water for a fee. They can't be that dumb.. :confused3

i know for alcohol, they do not take cc only cash.
i guess if a passenger needs water due to fainting, maybe they would make an exception for the water.

right now they are standing firm when i call them.
united is close to bankruptcy again so maybe they are cutting back everything.

now the ones with a voucher or frequent flying miles will be effective.

i received a voucher with united that is valid for one year from now for $50.
it was stated due to the hardship i was having over the change of flight schedule without notifying me. i filled a major complaint with them over the week and this is to satisfy their lack of lack of sensitivity.

but, in order for me to apply the future voucher of $50, i can not book a flight on line. i have to call and use an agent. using an agent has a fee to it if they book it for you. i called and was told if i don't use an agent, i can't use the voucher....

which came first. the chicken or the egg?

i know what you are saying and agree with you.

i called and was told by the united agent that is the policy that will be put into effect this summer.

i told them that it's just not going to cut it but the agent said she has no say in the matter. she can only tell me what she has been instructed.

btw, some years back i had a blood clot in my leg.
i had surgery for it within 24 hours once it was diagnosed.
i had it once and prone for it to happen again.

my options will be to buy bottled water after i clear security.
i can't chance the airline running out of water while on the flight.

my doctor had told me get up ever 30 minutes and walk up and down the aisle for 5 minutes when i was on the long non stop flight from HI to IL in march. i know how serious it can be.

if you or anyone on the thread can think of a great way for me to catch the attention of United customer service with my needs, and the needs of others, please feel free to let me be aware of them.

send them a mail bomb? :confused3 no, i kid. send them an email every day until your trip? That's all I got.

so they really didn't give you anything did they? It is a catch 22. The water thing is amazing. they are going to charge for water for meds... well then they do deserve to have there butts sued! Kelly is correct, people need water, what if you are on a 12 hour flight, they will not give you any free water? Where are the attorney's at? This cannot be legal. :confused3

we know the feeling too, we moved to orlando and a relative had a flight out of our prior city (miami) so we tried to change it [Delta] to MCO. $75 change fee, thats fine. The "fare change" would be ~350 and the total with taxes was about 456.xx (and thats on top of the current ticket) so we declined, and booked thru NW. That was about 350.xx for roundtrip, so that worked for us.

We took her to the airport, clear as its been all week. Three hour delay because they can't find the co-pilot. She arrived in Detroit to another two hour delay, they were waiting on a plane still. Flights suck! lol

aw man........that is awful foladar....and i don't believe there is any compensation for her delays....

i hope she got free water bottles......

i think we are going to be reading more and more of issues on flights.

i can't say i'll stop flying.
it beats the long drive and i go solo so i just have to learn to live with the changes and quit complaining.

i think my flight from HI to IL was over 9 hours going there but 8.5 coming back as we picked up over 45 minutes
that is including the time changes.
over 9 hours in flight.

yea, on that flight they poured us water into a cup from the pitcher.

that water was free. it was 3 months back in march of this year.

the new policies are on united's website for the charges they plan to put into effect.

all i want is to be able to book a flight in advance and have it be available for when the time comes.

Then it's becoming obvious that you can't book with United anymore.

Unfortunately, schedule changes are daily occurrences for most airlines. That's why we try to fly Southwest when we go to Orlando. Their flights seem pretty consistent.

yep....we don't fly anyone other than SW anymore.... have NEVER had a flight late, delayed or canceled ;)

The main problem with airlines and many other companies is that they seem to have forgotten that they are suppose to serve the customer. Instead, they are of the believe that the customer serves the company.

I keep hearing that SW is cheaper. But for some reason all the flights out of Dallas are more expensive than AA. :confused3 But I'll keep them on the backburner when planning my trip next year!

Have you added SW 'Ding' to your computer? A lot of SW cheaper fares show up on 'Ding'. Also, if you are booked on SW and a cheaper fare shows up, it seems that its much easier to receive a credit voucher for the difference with them. Of course, here in KC, we don't have any one dominating carrier that's setting prices for the rest of the carriers, so the carriers still have to compete against each other in our market.

I think part of it is that Dallas is "home" to SW....

Also, usually the prices are best the day they open (usually a Thurs at 11am est too).

SW really keeps changing around their rates. For instance, they used to open fares at $79 pp/oneway. When the summer opened for our flights (Jan. 9), ours were $99 pp/ow. Now...I was expecting the $79, but booked the $99 anyway (plus I had a $408 credit sitting in SW's hands).

By the next day, the rates were already up. They've gone as high as $168 and $148  ...for the same flights (which, are the first one leaving on a Thurs morning and the last one home on a Sat night). The other day i happened to check, flights are STILL not sold out (from Orlando to Phila. the last nonstop flight home on a Sat.?) and went down to $79 pp/ow.

Just checked again... $86 down & $129 home...and they are still not sold out.

It's getting to within 2 weeks of travel time...guessing they are desperate to sell the empty seats, so they are lowering the price to try to entice peeps to fill 'em.

It IS cheaper to fly on a Wed or Thurs and Mon or Tuesday. tlinus was having the problem finding good airfare...because she was traveling on the weekend days. Traveling weekday is usually cheaper.

It also matters what day of the week you go lookin' to buy airfare too. Look on the weekends, the rates are higher (cuz more peeps are shopping those days)...check during the week, usually cheaper. If you keep checking daily or weekly, you'll see the prices for your flight fluctuate.

It's all a big game :confused3 and we bought the $99 pp/ow when they came out. With my credit, I paid $249 out of pocket for the 3 of us to fly round trip this year.....can't beat that price ;)

Mac - time for you to find a new carrier to fly with!!!

Funny you should mention that. I checked eight after I posted yesterday. Found flights at $96 one way!! For departing and returning!! So that would've been around 182 without taxes! Of course I did book a package this year and Universal was only offering AA. Again, next year I'm gonna book everything separately so hopefully I can find a good rate through SW.
