I'm going on a little business trip to Holland tomorrow so behave while I'm gone :)

Does anyone know if there are any good Indian restaurants in Amsterdam - preferably close to the Central Station area?

Have a fantastic time Tim ~ If you don't find an Indian restuarant, you could always have some space cakes!

I have a friend who has been to Amsterdam a couple of times and recommends two.

Indian Restaurant Akbar
Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 15
1017 PV Amsterdam
Tel :0206 242211

In the City Centre.

or this one near Central Station:

Indian Restaurant Vijaya
Geldersekade 23
Amsterdam
Tel: 0204 205225

She says you may have to book in advance for Vijaya but you can contact them via their website..

This site (apparently) has hundreds of all different cuisines....prefer egg and chips myself

Thanks for the information Johnny - curried eggs and chips tomorrow night :)

Hi Tim,

the ones near the station are all pretty well geared to tourists... But Amsterdam is so small you can easily get around
The Mayur on the Korte Leidsedwarsstraat is supposed to be pretty good.

Our local one in Amersfoort has a new owner and is supposed to be pretty good... if you can put it on your expense account...we have a date!?!

I pitty whoever sits next to me on the flight home on Thursday LOL

Ha Ha Ha :) - just noticed your Tag, wondered why you wanted to find an Indian ;)

Have a good trip!

Let us know what it is like. We are going for a few days in April and are hoping to find the Hard Rock Cafe (to add to my glasses and teddy bear collection)

Have a great time.

You should get you business trips out here...............South Indian, Goan, Spicy Kebabs, the best daal and breads you have ever tasted and all at a very reasonable price........it's no wonder I cannot maintain that diet.

Theres one near the Crowne Plaza, on the opposite side of the road. No udea of the bame or road name but its really really nice. LOL

Bet your flight makes record time on the way home, on account of your extra wind power.

Tim, my friend, you should be there now and, I hope, enjoying a good curry. Hope Julie and the kids are OK without you. Probably having a good time, in fact. ;)

We have an engineering centre in Pune, so I may yet get a trip out to Indian :)

I tried the Vijaya :)

Not up to Leicester standards but quite nice. Maon course included rice, salad and veg. curry side dish, so good value for money :)
