In Defense of Tom Cruise

Am I the only one who always believes him? He's always seemed like the nicest guy to me...ever since I used to melt as a teen when he was in movies like Top Gun and Legend He always seemed like a very decent guy...then in the last few years, his image has just gone down the tubes. I get bothered by the press because there always seems to be a really nasty spin on whatever he says or does. What was the big deal about him being so open about how he felt about Katie? Why would he make that up? Gosh, if I found the love of my life, I'd be jumping around too I just feel bad for the guy

I have been a huge Tom supporter over the years, even after he left Nicole. I LOVED him in Top Gun and so many other movies. But his latest antics with bashing Brooke Shields, jumping on the couch on Oprah, etc. has really dimmed his image in my eyes.

As someone who suffered from severe postpartum depression, I have no respect for TOm Cruise and his ridiculous theories on mental illness. Diet and exercise were not going to help me overcome the state of depression I had weeks after giving birth to my oldest daughter.

The minimal respect I had for him in stating his beliefs was completely lost when he went down that road.

Let's get a little perspective here. This guy acts for a JOB. He just happens to have attributes that are attractive to a lot of the populace. But it's still a job to him. I personally dont care if he worships the devil. He's a good actor. He acts. Big deal. His movie sucks or it is good. Deal with it.

I totally agree with both of the above comments. As an actor he is ok, but his actions as a person leave much to be desired, IMHO.

I don't agree with his philosophies about post partum depression, either...but I believe that his relationship with Holmes is genuine, and I don't think he seems that bad...maybe just misguided (or brainwashed, unfortunately)

I could overlook a lot, but that's the thing about him that bugs me the most. He's old enough to be Katie's father and being with her makes him a DOM (dirty old man) IMO.

I think it's about the same age difference as Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher right? (someone in their late 20s with someone in their early forties).

I guess it doesn't bother me as long as there isn't a sex-based bias, such as it being okay for men but not for women (like it used to be) or vice versa.

Honestly, I think he's a fantastic actor and that he adds major sparkle to whatever film he's in...I loved his acting in War of the Worlds, even though he was critically panned by some--I had to disagree on that one--I thought he was really great...I loved him in the Last Samurai and Magnolia...gosh, A Few Good Men...

I don't like his action flicks for the most part (Mission Impossibles, Days of Thunder..I didn't like Far and Away though I think it was more of a drama). I do tend to like the dramas he's in. Jerry Maguire was great

he's a multi-millionaire and a huge star. good for him, he's obviously earned it. but when the hollywood people go on camera to defend or push their religious beliefs or agendas, I'm out. keep it to yourself, Mr. Scientology.

Tom Cruise just had great PR people. Look what happened when he fired them and hired his sister. Now that's he's rehired pros they seem to be reeling him back from the deep end.

There have been rumors about him for years. Where there is smoke there is fire. On Oprah he couldn't even explain to her how him and Katie met. Scarlett Johannson came out and said he tried to recruit her. His 1st wife said he was infertile. He divorced a pregnant Nicole Kidman.

Yeah the guy is a real winner.

I think that most people don't like him because of his religion. Religious Freedom is OK as long as you are Christian.

Kindly disregard my previous post to you. I will definitely remember you now, lol. I love TC. I am sick of the nastiness that is said about him and basically don't follow it. There are plenty of other beliefs/religions/callitwhatever that also promote non-medicine approaches to treating illnesses so that is a non-issue for me.

Not positive but I think TC is around 43 so I hardly think that qualifies him as either a dirty old man or makes him old enough to be KH's father. It's not like she's 19 for goodness sake. John Travolta (another heartthrob of mine) is also a practicing Scientologist and I rarely hear any negative banter about him.

How about Hollywood types keep their religious and political views to themselves? I know I'd appreciate that!
