Sorry about all the questions!

We have an in car charger for our ipod minis to use with an itrip, it plugs into the cigarette lighter. Do you know if it will work in our hire car or are the cigarette lighters different there? Also will the itrip work there, it broadcasts to FM stations, do they have that in the USA? Are they legal in the USA?

One more question (promise it's the last... for tonight!) If I burned a DVD of some home video on my computer, would it work in a USA DVD player/DVD ROM? I want to put something on video for someone who lives out there.

Yes, it will work in the cigarette lighter with no problems. iTrip is fine, too. In fact it's the other way around as far as I know - broadcasting is legal in the US, but not here. We bought a Monster FM transmitter in the States a couple of years ago which we should really not use over here, but is perfectly legal in the States.

As far as the DVD question, it depends on what format it records in (we're on PAL here, the US is NTSC). It's the whole Region 1/Region 2 question and depends on the age of the player. Most modern equipment will play both. I think.

If you've burned it on your computer, make sure you specify region 1 (USA/Canada) or 0 (no region coding), and tell it specifically to burn in NTSC format - a lot of american TV's still don't support PAL signals, although most of ours now support NTSC!

I thought I could change it to NTSC - just didn't know if the actual discs played a part, will burn it that way.

Cheers for info about car charger, hopefully that means we don't need to take many CDs.

In the UK maybe :-)

Remember the US dont think that there is a world out there so tend no to cater for other formats etc !!!
