Am I the only one here who ever gets in a slump?? I did very well on my low-carb diet for about 5 weeks. I added in exercise and did very well with that for a couple weeks. I have been seeing results on the scale and in inches lost.

For some reason (or no reason at all??) I've fallen into a slump the past few days where I just don't care. What's up with that?

My food choices have been awful, but I've been feeling extra tired and overburdened with life and eating right seems like just one more thing on my already-too-long list.

I know it isn't PMS - I expect a few bad days with that. I can't really pinpoint a reason.

Please tell me this doesn't happen only to me. Also please tell me that it will pass....please??? :(

This happens to me too. For some reason just as start to see some results I saboutage (spelling?) my own efforts. I find it happens most when I've been too busy to do a big trip to the supermarket and run out of food that easily fits into my plan.

Unfortunately it takes me quite a while to get back on track, but stocking the fridge and cupboards with easily prepared allowable food is always a big help.

Exercise also helps me to get out the slump. Just a 15 minute walk can make me feel a whole lot better.

Also try to focus on why you started your diet in the first place.

Good luck.

OK Doreen.
It isn't just you and yes you'll get through it! First realize that eating right shouldn't have to be work, but in our world, it is. Now Take some of your own (Very Good) advice and keep up as best you can until you are ready to get back with your program. LC is particularly tricky and requires great discipline (which is why I can't do it! :) ). When you are ready, you'll tackle it with the same tenacity as you have in the past. I have all the faith in you. Keep at it sweetie. You'll get over the hump or out of your slunp! (I'd better stop there. I'm beginning to sound like Dr. Suess!) When you feel lousy, visit. There are enough of us here to pull you through!

Keep the Faith! (I am... in you!)

Do you think it could have something to do with the days getting shorter and the weather getting colder? I know when it is still dark when I get up and dark at dinner time I feel more tired. I think the sun has an effect on our hormones or something and when it isn't as sunny it can effect some people.
It could be as simple as your body trying to fight of a cold or a bit of extra stress.
What ever it may be if you are making poor food choices you're probably making it worse. I know from having hypoglycemia, food has a huge effect on mood and tiredness. So, push past it and eat right and exercise. Don't let that slump take away from all your hard work. Remember taking care of yourself is number one! All the other things in your life will only improve if you take care of you! I know you can do it!::yes::

It happens to me alot!!! In fact even this week I was feeling really down and ready to go eat everything in sight because things had slowed down. When that happens I try to eat something legal but special like the cheesecake or a low carb ice cream bar.I ended up with really good success this week.

I think it could have to do with the weather change also. I know some kind of study was done about the "grey days" being depressing and patients being treated with using brighter lighting more like natural sunshine.

Stick with it and hang in there. It will get better!!

Yes Doreen, it happens to alot of us..you are in good company!
For me it is when there is cloudy grey skies............ but I try hard to work thru it. If I don't do well, I just get right back onto the program..............
best wishes.......

Me, too, Doreen. I am now in the process of getting my BUTT in gear! :D

Ok. Here is your kick in the pants from me....**. NOW, I need one from you! :p Maybe we can get back on the trail at the same time.

(((((((((Doreen)))))))))

I hope your slump feeling days are over! It does happen to lots of people (me included) and it usually happens when I'm focusing on something negative. Take some time to pat yourself on the back for the great job you have been doing!!! Appreciate yourself and know that your energy level will get back to normal soon. Don't beat yourself up for not making healthy food choices, but promise yourself that you will do the best you can to have a great day!

Hang in there! Slumps are temporary and once they are over you just start zooming right along, feeling great and light as a feather! You can do this! Don't put pressure on yourself to "get it done" just try to enjoy each day as much as you can.

Drink lots of water! Try to pass up high carb foods. Make sure you tell yourself how proud you are for making the choices that feel good!!! :) And come back here and let us know how you are feeling!:teeth:

Thank you all!! I knew I could count on my WISH buddies to understand and help me through! You are all wonderful! :grouphug:

I'm going to get some extra rest this weekend. I'm also going to plan my menus and fill my house with healthy and yummy low carb food. That will go a long way toward helping me get back on track.

I'm always so hopeful and positive in the mornings. Then the day wears me down and I lose it. ::yes:: Today I'm going to relax a bit. I'm not going to obsess over counting every carb and beating myself up. I'm just going to choose healthy foods. I'm also going to drink my water and walk my puppy (exercise!).

I think sunny days will head my way again soon. :sunny: Thanks again for all of your words of encouragement and all of your ideas!!

Hi Doreen,

Sorry to read about your slump.

I used my son's birthday as an excuse a couple of weeks ago.
I ate cake, ice cream and even had vanilla coke which I don't
really like.

After eating that on his birthday of course there was some left over cake and ice cream and I ate some the next day also.

I finally got back on track(SBD) and since then I have loss the pounds gained (2) plus some.

Don't be too hard on yourself, just get back on track so you can add the cheat free clippie back to your signature.

I look forward to adding that clippie to my signature.

Good Luck!

I am exactly like you. I'll be doing really great and then I'll just quit. I start eating poorly and it's like a slippery slope. I know the cold, dark days definitely impact me. I think putting it down in writing gives you a little boost...along with the postivie enforcement of DIS.
