In-A-Gadda-Da-Eata - Dining Report 7/27/08 - 8/2/08 w/ Pics - Updated 9/2

First of all... I love your report so far.

Second of all... and this is completely off topic but...

Are you watching the mens gymnastics?!? Wowww!

All caught up - great reviews! We, too, indulged relatives into the magic of WDW (twice, actually) - my DH's nephews. The first vacation was when they were 6 and 10.

Our first trip to WS, we too ate in America. See, my nephew was about 5 and he was diabetic. He had to eat at set times and of course, at noon, lunchtime, we were in America. Imagine my disappointment.

Being on the East Coast kinda stinks sometimes, although this Olympics is better than most. We were in bed before the 400 relay the other night and before the US men's gymnastics last night. And tonight, I have to work job #2, so who knows how much I might get to see before I have to hit the sack tonight.

Where in the World Showcase is Carmen Sandiego?
(please imagine Rockapella playing in the background)

Now it's stuck in my head. Congrats on the fast passes. I wish I had DVR'd some of the olympics. I got to see glimpses of it on some patients' TV's while working 4 12 hour shifts.

Love it, love it, love it! We're going back to Tutto's this year b/c it was so good! I have to ask, where were those giant Mickey rice krispie treats? At Goofy's or on Main St. or where? It's given me an idea for dh's birthday instead of a cake.

Have to add my 2 cents. We always called it the break song cause you knew if it was playing on the radio, the dj was on break. Yes, all straws used to be paper & the waxed ones really didn't feel good either. And I wouldn't mind the skimpy beach volley ball outfits if the MEN wore them, too. But nooooo, we get baggies on them! :confused3 I'm 55 yo, where else am I going to see abs like that? Although the swimmers are pretty good, but a lot of them wearing those suits that cover them. New Olympic movement! We want abs! Male ones!

I just love your reviews, you are just too funny:rotfl:

I love Boma, so I can't wait to hear your comments.

Waiting patiently popcorn::

Boma - Flavors of Yum

As I had mentioned previously, Wednesday was turning out to be a very magical day for the Tweedles, David, and I. And for dinner, we were in for a treat . . . we were going to Boma, which, conveniently enough, was just downstairs from our room.

We had already been to Boma once this trip, but this would be our first visit for dinner. I had planned this visit for Wednesday because the Tweedles are fans of ribs, and anything that would please the Tweedles would make my life easier.

Now onto the food:

This is my first plate. Front and center is the prime rib, to the left of that is salmon, mac & cheese in the center (obvious, I know), above that is Pap & Sheeba, then FuFu, then pita bread triangles, then white bean hummus (the red one) and black olive hummus (the greyish one)

How was it? Well hit or miss. The prime rib was ok. The salmon...I wasn't a fan. The Pap and Sheeba....now that was good! I discovered my love of Pap during breakfast, so anything involving Pap was a must try. The FuFu? Well aside from its hilarious name, it was also good. What isn't to like? Sweet Potatoes + White Potatoes + Cinnamon = Good.

David's first plate was sparse but his buffet style is to try a little and then go back for a lot if he likes something.

He really liked the potatoes. And he loved the corn bread (they called it something else . . . but it was corn bread). One complaint from David....he couldn't find any butter to bathe it in.

Tweedle Dee found plenty when he went to the buffet. And he managed to visit several stations, which was an improvement over his last buffet visit.

I thought he would like the ribs, but he didn't. He wasn't a fan of their BBQ sauce. However, he also LOVED the corn bread. His one complaint? There wasn't any melted cheese for his fries.

Tweedle Dum was more cautious in his approach to the buffet. He liked the plain pasta though (he didn't want the sauce).

When he went back up for seconds, he got more fries and mixed it with his dessert.

I also tried the carrot ginger soup. It was good. But it was difficult to eat...Tweedle Dee thought I had scored some melted cheese for him and well the thought of a bowl of melted cheese was too much to deal with!

For dessert we tried everything.

The cookies were a hit. The cocomisu? We weren't fans. It reminded us of suntan lotion. And the Zebra Domes? Well the Tweedles saw the sign above them stating that they contained liquor and thought it would be their chance to "legally drink" on the trip. That's right, they were hoping to get some effect from the Zebra Domes and I didn't bother to tell them otherwise because the thought of getting tipsy off of Zebra Domes was too funny. The other dessert items were ok. I wasn't a fan of the cherry crumble dessert (the cherries were just too tart for my personal tastes). I did like the banana bread pudding though. But, then again, I am a sucker for bread pudding.

Everyone enjoyed the Zebra Domes so much that later that night we ended up buying a container of them from The Mara. So good!

Oh YUM -- I was sitting here waiting for more of your report ... ok ... I was reading other food porn too!

We're only having breakfast at Boma come this October ... I think I'm going to have to go on a mission looking for some domes to take back to our resort so that we may finally try this most delectable of DIS desserts! :rotfl:

Oh no ... up until about five years ago I wouldn't eat much more than tuna fish, mac 'n' cheese, and cheerios. Some of it was a defense mechanism b/c of my intestinal issues but once I got put on a good medicine I gradually became braver in my eating habits. Now my own family doesn't recognize my food tastes ... they're constantly shocked by the things I'll eat. :lmao:

Trust me...I feel your pain. Literally.

First of all... I love your report so far.

Second of all... and this is completely off topic but...

Are you watching the mens gymnastics?!? Wowww!

First, thanks! I always enjoy reading your posts too. Secondly....OMG! Men's gymnastics had so many ups and downs!!

All caught up - great reviews! We, too, indulged relatives into the magic of WDW (twice, actually) - my DH's nephews. The first vacation was when they were 6 and 10.

That was really sweet of you. It isn't always easy, but it is nice to give others disney memories.

Being on the East Coast kinda stinks sometimes, although this Olympics is better than most. We were in bed before the 400 relay the other night and before the US men's gymnastics last night. And tonight, I have to work job #2, so who knows how much I might get to see before I have to hit the sack tonight.

I know! I was up until 12:30 am with the women's gymnastics. TiVo has been a lifesaver!

I have to ask, where were those giant Mickey rice krispie treats? At Goofy's or on Main St. or where? It's given me an idea for dh's birthday instead of a cake.

Main Street. And what a good birthday idea!

great pics and reviews- cant wait for more... :D another nks fan here btw..

NKTOB!!! Ok, I know this is off topic (like so many things) but I had an awesome NKOTB birthday cake when I was younger. They airbrushed a picture of Joey on it!! I need to find the pictures.

Male ones!

May I recommend men's synchronized diving? It has something for everyone. I watch for the Speedos. DH watches b/c he is in amazement of the dives.

We're only having breakfast at Boma come this October ... I think I'm going to have to go on a mission looking for some domes to take back to our resort so that we may finally try this most delectable of DIS desserts! :rotfl:

After you finish at Boma, go to the Mara. It has 6 packs of them, along with FuFu, Pap, and lots of other bits of yumminess!

How can I do anything but rave about a review that includes not only delicious Disney food but also references to Greek mythology and Rockapella? It would be like spitting in the face of all that I hold dear. Good work! :thumbsup2

I am enjoying your report. I am a high school teacher and the mom to an almost 14 year old boy! I soooooo understand your pain dealing with the Tweedles!! LOL!!

My son is a not so picky eater anymore... told us the other night "I like falafal and hummus" ! But then again Tiggers always say they like things, until they try them!! :tigger: :tigger: :tigger: :tigger:

Can't wait to read more....

NKTOB!!! Ok, I know this is off topic (like so many things) but I had an awesome NKOTB birthday cake when I was younger. They airbrushed a picture of Joey on it!! I need to find the pictures.

ahhhh....joe is my fave!! :goodvibes great boma review, one of our only MUST DOs every trip- hope to make it for breakfast this year too!!

LOVED the Boma review. We are doing dinner there for the first time this trip so I love seeing pics of the goodies.

I can't wait to try Zebra Domes. How cute that they thought they would get a buzz. Silly Tweedles!

First, you made me hungry for some lasagna and profiteroles.

Then I saw the Boma food I love so much. :lovestruc
My strategy involves getting a dinner plate, putting THREE BOWLS on the plate, and loading them up with different soups. I'm a soup fiend.

Of course, I'll have the other stuff, but I gotta have my Boma soups!
