if not an owner???

I know it's one of those 'how long is a piece of string' type questions that don't have a definitive answer.

BUT, I am wondering if anyone has had success (particularly since BLT and Kidani opened) in securing accommodation at BCV for October at the 7-month mark. I am looking to book for October 2011 so planning VERY far ahead but want to know what my chances might be :confused3

I have the same question but for middle of November?? Perhaps someone can answer a two for one? :lmao:

Not impossible for October but you may have to waitlist. I would have a backup reservation at your home resort.

Mid-November should be OK, it's after Food & Wine but before Thanksgiving.

Both BCV & BWV are very tough to get in October for non owners. The F&W festival are very popular with owners and the resorts fill up very quickly, even at the 11 month window it's tough to get a standard BWV view. Waitlist is a good way to go, good luck!

Difficult but not impossible now--easier if DVC reallocates the points in 2011 and moves October into a more expensive season.

I own at BWV and VWL. I stayed at BCV this past October 2009 with arrival on the 10th for 5 nights in a 1-bedroom. Called at 9AM at the 7-month mark and immediately got the reservation - no need to waitlist or anything. So it is possible :)

I did it in both '07 and '09, booked the first week in Oct at BCV at the 7 month window, love going to the Food and Wine...8 days each time, one bedroom...

We have stayed at BCV during the first week of December and during the middle of October. Both times I called right at the 7 month mark and got what I wanted.

Ditto that here except we checked in on Oct 11th and checked out the 17th.

So, it is very possible. If you are looking for a studio, I would say your chances are lessened.

It certainly isn't impossible - even without the waitlist. However, its also certainly not guarenteed:

Calling RIGHT AT seven months is likely to have a lot more success than calling at six months and three weeks because you forgot.

Being willing to waitlist or switch resorts during your stay is likely to have more success.

One bedrooms apparently USUALLY book last. A studio will be harder to get. If you get a two bedroom with two queen beds in the second bedroom, you should call the Vatican.

This year seemed to have a lot of atypical availability patterns. Whether that was the opening of BLT and Kidani or the effect of the economy (which is my guess, I think a lot of people who usually travel for two or three trips took one longer trip to save on travel expenses this year, and skipped their "long F&W weekend") is unknown - or even if that is just my own perception (and some other people's) or in fact was the case.

I couldn't get BWV or BCV at the 7 month window beginning on Oct 14 in 2009. Both resorts were already sold out on the Saturday (17th). I could have waitlisted that one night, but I didn't want to chance it and we didn't want to do a split stay this time. Ended up at BLT and enjoyed it. This was for a studio though.

Good luck.
