Thought I'd post it here in case not everyone knows this.

Most people I'm sure are aware that if you are flying to the U.S. you do need a Passport.

Those travelling by ground, currently may still use only a Birth Certificate and photo I.D. to enter.

As Of June 1st 2009, all ground travellers will ALSO need a passport!

I hope this information is useful to someone for trip planning

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) will take effect for persons entering the United States by land or water, effective 1 June 2009. You will be prohibited from entering the United States unless you hold a valid WHTI approved document. WHTI approved documents will include the following:
a passport, or
a NEXUS card, or
a FAST card, or
an EDL OR EIC from a province or territory where a US-approved EDL/EIC program has been implemented.

Ontario does not have an Enhanced Driver's Licence yet!

We always have Passports with us-even now- and also have Nexus which is a huge timesaver especially at the Airport!

Not so bad as long as you are prepared!

Photocopy all important travel document and keep them is a secure place separate from your other documents. I usually scan the documents, confirmation information, medical insurance, passports, drivers license etc.

Used it many times, one of may favorites.

Does anyone know the answer to this question and if you dont know the answer do you know where i can find it? Can my 19 yr old son come back across the Canadian boarder with my van? He is going to be dropping us off at the Buffalo Airport and will be coming back home to Canada with my van so he can have it while I am gone. Someone asked me if it was ok for him to do that I honestly never even thought of it....:confused3
