IMPORTANT - Referral Incentive Ending

I was up at the Doorway to Dreams this morning here in Chicagoland, and DVC Guide Derek informed us that the Referral Incentive will be ending on August 25.

Although, there is no word on another referral incentive being offered, it is always a possibility down the road. If you are mulling over buying, but want the Referral Incentive, now is the time to act!

Carol, just for clarification -- is it the reduced priced per point that's ending on 8/25, or will the entire "Sharing the Magic" program be discontinued? (Or do we even know at this point?)

Derek was speaking of the referral incentive program that gives the purchaser a price break... and results in a bonus for the referring member.

I did not take it to mean that the program of members receiving a bonus for referring a new purchaser is discontinued (Sharing the Magic)...

As I posted in a different thread, I think the new disney visa referral promotion is very solid confirmation of exactly what you're reporting here. It seems a $6 to $8 per point referral incentive would render a $500 visa rewards dollar incentive virtually useless -- why would anyone ever take the visa incentive when you could have at least twice as much of a cash discount?

So I would tend to think that however long the visa $500 incentive stays in place, the referral price break will likely no longer be available.

You should try to visit up at Doorway to Dreams some time! We get our little fix there visiting the BLT models. Derek is a great guy. But our heart belongs to our Guide Ron Brumbaugh, lol.

Sharing the Magic has been around for a while. Keep in mind, that we allow the solicitation of referrals on the DIS here as long as the portion is in effect that benefits the DVC buyer. When that ends, our referral posting ends as well. Thanks everyone!

Does the referal bonus program work for resales also, or is that strictly when purchasing through Disney?

We are thinking about buying and if its possible would like my brother to get the bonus for us purchasing, even it will probably be resale.

The referral reward program in only applicable if you buy direct from Disney.
