Some may be aware of this and some (like I) may not so I thought I would post this warning.
A little background. Recently signed up for Annual Pass, which gives me an allowance to get a MB. Ordered that and received it in the mail. I also have reservations for my vacation (Yay) on site, which also entitles me to MB (not to mention the older MB I already have). I was confused as how Disney was going to manage my AP MB and my on site stay MB. I knew I had the option to decline MB, but was confused as how Disney would transfer my resort info on my AP band. Last thing I wanted was to get there and not be able to get in the room and go back to Guest services.
So, decided to call Disney. This is where it gets interesting. According to Dis (and the Agent was super nice and helpful), any and all your information for current entitlements and reservations are auto synced to ALL the ACTIVE MB you have. If you have multiple MB, they will ALL have access to your entitlements (like AP, DDP, etc).
This is not an issue in most cases, since your photo ID is tied to the MB, but it is also your resort key and I believe has your financial info on it. I am very leery of something that can be read thru an RF reader in someone else's hands.
What I did was go into my Dis Exp and deactivate my older ones and declined my resort stay MB (you can deactivate in the Magicband and Cards section). I will only carry my AP activated MB and a de-activated one as a backup.
Use this info as you need. I know I am a paranoid, but have a feeling I have a lot of compadres there with me.
:)

This is actually part of the sticky on all things MB. They have no memory storage on them. So they can't store data. And without the PIN they can't read your MDE account. So they are harmless in the hands of someone else. Unless they used it for your FP. And since they'd have no way to know what FP you had, that's really impossible

Though for a reason I can't quite understand there are a lot of folks who do think they store data.

I have about 15 MB, from before you could decline them. They all work. Now I'm collecting all the colors in 2.0

I'm like AngiTN, I've been collecting colors and I've been lucky enough to start collecting colors in 2.0.

If I lose a band, I will deactivate it, otherwise I will leave them all active and take with me which ones I want to use. As long as I don't give out my PIN, no one can use it to charge.

Plus, isn't it true that charging would only be possible (even with the PIN) for the duration of a trip where you are staying on property? Charging is to your resort bill, rather than directly to a credit card. (Right?)

I ask because I given a MB to friends in the past for either FP or photopass purposes (we are APs). Obviously I trust my friends implicitely or I wouldn't think of doing that anyway, but the thought process of charging privileges went through my mind.

Yes, when you use a MB, you are charging to your resort room, not directly to a credit card.

Yes. You must be staying on property for charging privileges... all purchases are attached to your room account.

You don't seem to understand how MB work...

1. No information is stored on any band. The band can access your folio.

2. All purchases made with your bands require you to put in your PIN # at time of purchase. Nobody can pick up a lost band and use it to charge.

3. The only way a stolen band could be used to access your room is if they know your room number. The band has no room info on it.

4. Your finger print is tied to your folio so nobody can take your band and use it for park entry.

In a nutshell there is no danger to having multiple active bands. Your info is safe. Even a skimmer walking through the park grabbing rfid info off of bands and cards would get nothing but your folio number.

Thank you, Jennasis for outlining the info! :)

Because this thread is slightly misleading, redirecting to the MB Sticky where all info is up-to-date:
