Just got a phone call from my DD.. Over the weekend they were up to the lake and their dog - who loves to fetch sticks and chew on them - evidently was chewing on branches from pine trees..
Well - this morning he started moaning and groaning and vomiting like crazy so she rushed him right to the vet.. They did x-rays and found a HUGE black ball of PINE SAP in his stomach! The vet said if she hadn't brought him in he would have been DEAD by 2 o'clock this afternoon!!!
They pumped his stomach, give him IV fluids and meds, and then sent him home with 2 other medications and he has to be on a special dog food for awhile..
I NEVER knew that pine sap was toxic to a dog, so if you have pine trees in your yard, or you go camping, PLEASE be careful about what your dog is chewing on!!!
