IMPORTANT!! Book Park Reservations ASAP!

Is that true and how fast? Only for packages? I'm an annual passholder and I cancelled room-only reservations a bunch of times last fall as plans changed and had to manually cancel my park reservations. I wonder if the system would eventually catch up and cancel all but 3, but I've always done it myself. I just switched our planned November trip to December and the room reservation went away but the park reservations did not.

It is true. It was put into place a couple weeks ago. If you cancel your package they will cancel your park reservations, unless you have other tickets or AP, within 24 hrs. People were making the reservations then canceling their packages but not the reservations so they closed the loophole, just like with FPs a couple years ago.

While yes WDW is purging "orphaned" park reservations, it is not immediate with cancellation and as long as another valid ticket is linked the park reservations won't cancel. It is fine to link an AP and cancel package tickets. I recommend linking the new ticket first and then canceling the package, but supposedly one has a couple of days to do so. It is not really a "loophole" because WDW apparently does not care what kind of ticket is used for park entry versus from which bucket the theme park reservation was made. The purpose of the new rule is to purge "orphaned" park reservations from accounts with no valid ticket to allow another guest with a ticket to use that slot. Most people canceling packages did not realize the had left park reservations behind. This simply sweeps them up and replenishes the available pool.

You're right. CM's can only do so much. Based on the number of reports we see on this one board alone, there is no way Disney could allow 'just one more' in parties as I'm guessing there are many, many requests every single day.

I feel terrible for those who miss out so am hoping with this post it might prove as a reminder to some (or those new to planning a post re-opening trips) how important it is to book as soon as they can.
When I booked last Wednesday, all but one part available...couldn't make immediate reservations bc Swan resort takes a couple of days...well, 3 days later when everything showed up...ALL parks are gone but one, and I can't get to MK until the day we leave...at non. They need to clean up the reservation system - I don't mind it, but it needs adjustment when you are trying to do the right thing. I have dining reservations twice for that week...but unless I can park hop over....(can't change trip dates, our school changes to year round this year and we have half of a summer!)

So Animal Kingdom is full every Wednesday in June. Full for hotel guests, but not AP holders. And you won't let me buy an AP???? Seriously? OMG. I am so frustrated with Disney right now.

Is there any difference between park availability for resort vs tickets? Doesn't seem to be - they always look exactly the same. I was hoping since we had a resort reservation that there would be better park availability.

No difference it seems.

Maybe WDW had intentions of reserving a ratio of passes for resort guests. Looks shady after a year not being used, like they’re ok with people making assumptions about onsite advantage as that’s how things usually work. They really should just merge the 2 buckets if they are one in the same... but will they actually use it at some point? Or do they just want people to think it could be used? 🤔

We just booked our park reservations today. We purchased 5 day park hoppers and we reserved two DHS, two MK, and one AK. We didn't book Epcot, as that will be our park on the afternoons of DHS/AK--post 2 pm. We have four chances to score Rise of the Resistance. Right now August is showing all green on the availability calendar. Although this thread is about park reservations, hotels are filling up at warp speed, so plan accordingly :stir:

With only having 2 park reservations for HS you only have 2 chances for Rise of the Resistance not 4. You can not try for it with park hopping as the 2nd time to try is at 1pm and you have to have checked into HS at some point before 1pm. So your best bet to have 4 chances is to book 4 park reservations.

Yes, but if you don’t get a BG at 7 AM on your DHS day, you can try again at 1PM. So you have two chances to try each day you have a DHS park pass. If you have two DHS days, you have 4 chances. It doesn’t matter what your plans are for park hopping away from DHS or not after 2 PM. Someone who is hopping to DHS doesn’t have any chances at all, that day.

Yeah it’s late and totally forgot that, which is silly that I did considering what I said in my post. I’ve had a long day, please forgive my moment of silliness. Now I’m embarrassed 😊🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Each day you're in DHS you have two chances, 7 am and 1 pm. That's four chances--two per day and we'll be there two days.

Thanks, you explained it well :thumbsup2

The problem with this though is if you cancel your onsite reservations then your park reservations will automatically be cancelled as well.
No it doesn't. I've cancelled 3 trips and months later have gone on mydisneyexperience, noticed my park reservations are still there, and had to cancel them one by one. I just cancelled some today.

How early out?? When I look at the calendar August 2021- Feb 2022 is completely green with the exceptions being October 1 and 31 having limited parks open. Should we really be reserving parks this far out?

While I'd say this is true for guests planning a trip in the next 6-8 months, it's not really necessary further in advance than that. Right now anyway, park availability in 2022 is pretty wide open.

We want to go in March 2022, but being Canadian, I can't logistically fork over thousands of dollars to buy tickets until I know our border will actually be open for us to get there...

In the same boat here except we are going Feb 2022. When do you think you'll purchase your passes? Usually we do a CDN resident deal but I dont think they offer that until the Fall (if they even offer it this year at all).

I have mine reserved for my Aug 2022 pre-cruise trip. No harm in doing them early so you know you have them.
