Daily we are seeing people challenged by not having a park reservation booked for some/all in their travel party as parks are often reaching capacity for reservations, even months in advance.

Please take the time as soon as you can to book your park reservations, even for trips still months away. It may be possible to move reservations later if your plans change but at least you'll have something booked.

People are reporting here daily that Disney CMs are unable to add park reservations if some/all of your travel party do not have a reservation so please book early!

This is so frustrating as an out of state pass holder. We often don’t plan trips far in advance, but if we don’t we won’t be able to maximize our AP because days will be booked. Time for WDW to bring back CMs and open remaining attractions/dining which will increase capacity.

I agree. There is no reason to wait, because you don’t have to plan around which days are the most crowded in which parks, so long as capacity is limited. I just try to get a balanced number of days in each park, so I know I will get to visit all of them. I book park passes as soon as I book the hotel (going on my 4th post-Covid trip later this month).

Thanks for the reminder! I changed my resort for July 2022 and had thought once I got the confirmation from my TA that I needed to change a couple of park days (changed from the Yacht Club - where I had Epcot 2 days and MK 1 - to the Poly like this summer where I'll have MK 2 days and Epcot 1) but had forgotten about it because school got crazy. This reminded me to do it. I know it's for 2022, but you can't be too cautious.

So glad that I have been really anal about this and booking parks the minute I book the hotel. Unfortunately, it has forced me to buy tickets for 3 of us for 7+ days, because our APs expire before the trips. I think I will be able to use the cost of those tickets towards renewing the APs. At least, that's what I have heard.

Thank you! Hate seeing say ask Guest services they can help or pixie dust!
You're right. CM's can only do so much. Based on the number of reports we see on this one board alone, there is no way Disney could allow 'just one more' in parties as I'm guessing there are many, many requests every single day.

I feel terrible for those who miss out so am hoping with this post it might prove as a reminder to some (or those new to planning a post re-opening trips) how important it is to book as soon as they can.

Can someone please clarify for me? Dont you need to have park passes purchased in order to make park reservations? Or just the hotel booked ? Thanks !!!

I have an AP, so my ticket is already purchased. You do need tickets to book park reservations. I wait until I book the hotel so my park reservations are not limited to the three an AP receives, but are length of stay instead.

Gotcha !!! Thanks much !!!!

Quick Question:
Do they ever open more park passes last minute if guests cancel their reservations?

While I'd say this is true for guests planning a trip in the next 6-8 months, it's not really necessary further in advance than that. Right now anyway, park availability in 2022 is pretty wide open.

We want to go in March 2022, but being Canadian, I can't logistically fork over thousands of dollars to buy tickets until I know our border will actually be open for us to get there...

True - but ... if folks booking those 2022 visits don’t reserve a park now, they will need to keep an eye on things and remember to return to make those reservations. Lately I’ve read several posts by folks who booked last fall who are just now coming to make park reservations only to find limited availability for their summer dates. I would rather have something reserved as parks for Feb.2022 than to discover 6 months from now that I got locked out. I can try to change those reservations later if not in the desired order, but at least I will be able to enter a park each day.

Yes, if you already bought your tickets or package you should book right away. For many of us who travel internationally, however, it's not logistically possible to buy our tickets yet for next year.

Could you book a package to hold your dates? That can be cancelled with no penalty if you decide to do something different - even if “different” means offsite with separate tickets.

We are staying offsite, but I honestly don't see a reason to panic about booking park reservations almost a year from now yet. Aside from October 1st, parks have pretty wide open availability this fall even. Once we get within 8 months of the trip, we will buy tickets and reserve parks.

Confused. If you have to have park tickets, before you can make park reservations, and you have to select tickets for specific dates, what if you buy the tickets and then there is no park reservation. For that matter, since you have to reserve the resort for specific dates, what if you can't get your dates for that? What do you do first?
Why do they not have a system where you enter your desired dates and it tells you if everything is available, resort, tickets, parks?
