Help! I think one of my widsom teeth has shifted or something. Starting last night I've been in loads of pain and the gum area is swollen. My top two came in when I was 19, but my bottom two never did. i've never had any problems with them until now. It's saturday - is there anything I can do to ease the pain until I can get into the dentist? We just moved so we don't even have a dentist yet - should I go to the dentist or two my dr? I know it will have to be taken out - my dentist back in NY said they would eventually. it just stinks that it is now when my hubby isn't around to take care of me! Thanks!

Any coworkers or friends or local army base acquaintances who can recommend a dentist?

This happened to me over the summer, while away on vacation! Ugh! I would find a walk in center and see if they can put you on an antibiotic until you can get into a dentist on Monday. I'm not sure if you called a dentist, if they would prescribe for you since they don't know you, probably not. You likely have an infection and the antibiotic (and pain killer if they give you one) will clear that up, but you will have to have the teeth removed or it will continue to happen over and over. Mine was so bad I couldn't open my mouth or talk properly by the time I got the meds! I had all 4 wisdom teeth out within the month... good luck!

I have some left over antibiotics that I'm taking until I can get in to somewhere on monday. (bad, I know, but I was a pharmacy tech so Iknow the drill)800mg of motrin doesn't really touch it, so I have found a family dentistry that I will call monday morning. The kids don't need cleanings yet so I haven't really found a dentist yet. Bad me, again. I just hope I can get some sleep tonight!!! I want them to rip out all four if they will!

I've worked for an Oral Surgeon for 20 years. Take the antibiotics. You can also take 3 tabs (800 mg) of motrin, 3 X a day. That will help with the muscle inflamation. I would call a Surgeon asap on Monday. If you call your Dentist (or any Dentist asince you don't have one yet), they will schedule you for an exam and X-rays, then, most likely, refer you to a surgeon. Cut out the extra 2 day wait and call the surgeon directly. Ice and heat won't help untill the tooth is removed. Brinbg your health insurance info too. Many Medical plans consider wisdom teeth medical not dental situations. And- if your medical plan needs a referral, call the PCP and tell them your situation. They should get you the referral without seeing them first. DON'T go to an Emergency room or urgent care facility. They WILL NOT remove the tooth. Good Luck. Let me know if I can help!:) :)
