Impact of grad nights & pass holder previews?s

I'm trying to plan our first DLR trip for May 30-June 6 or 7. We've been to WDW resort a couple of times, and I if I were traveling there again, I'm thinking that would be a relatively lower crowd week because it is after Memorial Day, but before many other schools let out.

However, I have no experience with DLR. I'm wondering how grad nights will impact our trip, and also how passholder previews for Carsland might affect us.

I read somewhere that predicted opening for Carsland is June 15, with a few days of pass holder previews the weekend before that.

After reading about the chaos that ensued from OMDD and the influx of pass holders and other guests, I'm a bit worried. Does anyone have any insight?

Grad Nites, won't be a major concern but may limit the hours on those night by a couple as they close DL park for the private party. It's possible but not known if DCA may be open later to help balance out the crowds. I would expect lots of teens there during the day but not enough to make crowds until later afternoon and evening. They will be good nights to have a WoC show pass.

Cars Land will not make the parks busy if it's an AP preview, or a standard soft opening for general guests because they both limit how many people can actually ride. The problem Cars Land could cause is if it opens on your dates of travel or just before, that is when massive crowds will show up.

Yea we will be there the same time and I have been wondering the same thing. I'm not real concerned but I am hoping for lower crowds (we will be there the 28th- 1st). But if cars land does happen to open that week we will just deal with it. Can't be worse than when we unknowingly went to DL in 05 on the 50th anniversary day. We had no clue it was the actual day (we knew they were celebrating that year but had never thought to look at the actual day. I had won 3-day park hoppers on a radio show so my then GF now DW went during the one time that fit both our schedules). We showed up early (so we thought) so we could ride Space mt without a big wait and found main street completely packed and Gov Terminator givin his speech. By the time we got to space mt the line was insane and FP times were at 6:30 pm that night or something like that. It was 8:20 am when we got to space. Needless to say we were very much amateurs and that was a crazy day but we still had a good time and got a lot done.

If we can get through that crowd we can handle anything is how I see it. I always plan like it will be packed but hope it won't be. I'm never disappointed and often pleasantly surprised this way.

Just an FYI....this year the Grad Night Tickets are Park Hoppers good during the day at both parks, and then DLR closes to the public (but I can't find anything on our paperwork saying what time, lol). This IS different for 2012 and the website specifically says that 2013 will be at DCA only.

So, it is probable that both parks are going to be quite busy during the day as well as DLR closed in the evening.

Also, I just checked the Grad Night registration and they have closed May 30 and June 1, so those two days may be especially full since they're sold out. I don't know what number is "sold out", but it is probably pretty high.

Also...I just checked the grad night registration....May 30 and June 1 are both already closed...so while I don't know what "capacity" DLR/DCA sets, they're sold out and that can't be good from a crowd standpoint.

This is why Grad Night is not a major concern.

A. The parties are starting later than in the past so like I said you may loose a couple hours, versus when it was a bunch of hours lost in previous years.

B. Some kids have to go to school. Some won't leave their school before schools normal starting time. This means some will come for most of the day and some only after school and some later in the evening. I've already heard from some attending on when they will arrive and it appears to be a mix.

C. DL will be ready on the OPs dates for large crowds, the Grads will be obvious, but not make up a huge portion of the whole days attendance. DL can hold a lot more people than attend the parties. It's not like if they weren't there Space would have a walk on wait, it will just be longer.

I had the same concerns with Grad Nights, so I called the AP member line to get some insight. This year there are NO night time parties. Instead, seniors are givin one day hopper passes and will be in the parks the same hours as regular guests. So, when the park closes, it closes for EVERYONE. Summer hours tend to go to midnight. Also, in order to not have the parks over-run with teens, they are limiting the Grad Day ticktes but there will be more Days on the schedule (about three to four a week).

That not quite right. The parties formerly went all night, evening to morning.

Now the Grads get a parkhopper to use when the arrive during normal hours, and a private party from 11pm to 3am.

The info I find says there is a dance party after the park closes still, even with the regular park hoppers.

Then the CM I spoke to has been miss-informed and spreading rumors;) I know sometimes (okay, a lot of times) this happens.
