iMovie shake reduction vs. in-camera

Hi Everybody,

I am editing my home movies in iMovie '09, which has shake reduction. My camera (a Zi8) also has electronic image stabilization. Anyone know how these compare?

My assumption is that the iMovie stabilization, which takes about a minute to computer per second of footage, is better, but I don't know.
