Immobilizing air cast & TSA question

Hi everyone,

I am currently in an immobilizing air cast which is removable. I am flying to Disney next weekend and was wondering if anyone has experience going through airport security with one of these.

Do I need to remove the air cast and walk through the metal detector or will they allow me to leave it on and just use the wand on me?

It really doesn't matter either way, I just need to be prepared because it does take me a few minutes to remove it and I don't want to hold up the security line.

I had one 5 years ago-Achilles tendonitis-I took mine off, put it on the belt and waked through. The TSA agent told me I didn't have to take I off, they diet want me to get hurt, etc. I just thought it would be less of a hassle, and since my injury was relatively minor, I just took it off.

Also don't forget to ask to pre board your flight. I have one on and flew SWA recently and did the preboard option because I felt it would be safer if I did not have to worry about triping while walking down the aisle way. I feared that because my aircast was so big and people would be still getting settled that I would end up getting tripped as I walk down the aisle. As it turned out, on my flight to WDW there were only 30 people on my flight so I had the whole row to myself and was able to prop my foot up on the seats.
