I have been following your post and I just heard that Magic is cancelled. I saw that now you are staying at WDW instead.

I am so sorry to hear that, but maybe this is for the better.

Did DVC give you back the points or did they try to do something extra in addition to offering 50% for your next cruise?

I hope you will have a great trip and happy Thanksgiving. Look at it from the bright side, at least you know for sure that you won't get sick from the cruise.

She's still going to Disney, but her cruise was officially cancelled.

I asked for details. Maybe she's posted again since.

She is staying Friday at OKW then the next 6-7 nights at Port Orleans.

Well, I'm not imgoingtodisney, but I am a DVC member that had used points to book the 11/30 cruise. As soon as I heard about the cancellation I called DVC and was the first one that they dealt with regarding the change. They immediately put all of the points back into their original use years and with their original status (we had borrowed all of next year's points). They also refunded my $75 booking fee. I will receive 50% off a future 3, 4 or 7 day sailing, either booking with cash or points.

We used this year's points to book 5 nights at the AKL starting Sunday, and we're paying cash for Saturday night so we'll be there 6 nights altogether. We had already planned to head to WDW after the cruise so we'll keep our All Star Movies reservation for those nights and stay a total of 10 nights at WDW.

It is not what we had planned, nor is it the outcome we would have chosen, but we are fine with the change. We'll probably sail next Fall using our 50% discount. The best part is that friends we had met through this board who were sailing with us are also booked at the AKL for next week (we both booked there not knowing the other had...I guess it was fate) so our kids will still get to spend their vacation together. That somehow makes it all okay.

I don't know if I belong to the minority. I have a cruise scheduled in 2004 and I sort of feel that if DCL ever has this type of virus outbreaks and have to cancel my cruise, I will actually feel a little relieved knowing that I don't have to worry about my family's getting sick in an unfamiliar place.

However, I also feel that in addition to the 50% discount that Disney is offering, they should offer something to offset the hotel and food costs for the people who have already made the travel plan to go to Orlando and cannot change the dates.

It will be a real downer if I have to tell my kids that, right before we go, that we are not going anymore. Or if I have to pay more to stay at any of the WDW resorts due to last minutes' booking.

Glad to hear that things worked out well for you and your family. It's great that you are going to be staying at the same place as others you had already planned to meet up with.

Disney is Magical this time of year and I'm sure you'll love it.

Sorry about the cruise - but with that 50% off savings you'll know you'll take it eventually.

SO sorry that your cruise was canceled. Was Port Orleans Riverside the only resort option you were given? I was just curious. I hope you make the best of your vacation anyway. Glad to hear you didn't lose all your DVC points.

Port Orleans/Riverside is the only resort we were told had 7nights straight. We were planning on staying tonight at hotel, tomorrow night at port and 7nights on the cruise. Now we're tonight hotel, tomorrow night OKW and then 7nights PO. DH doesnt want to keep moving and neither do I.
