This day we saved for EpCot and Rose & Crown for Illuminations.
We get to EpCot and begin with the left hand side of Future World. We take off for Test track to get the fastpasses. The machines are covered so we get in line. This ride was cool. My 9yr son loved it.
Then over to Universe of Energy and ride the dinosaur ride. Then to the Life Pavillion. Went on Body Wars. Yes, it is the roughest simulator. Then we went to Cranium Command. I thought this was a very good show for a 9yr boy.
Then we began touring the countries. My husband and I go to Norway for fastpass and again the machines are covered. We head back to Mexico and ride the boat ride, grab some lunch. Then to Norway for the boat ride there. Took picture with the big troll in the gift shop. Then continue clockwise with the countries. Took pictures outside Germany, China and the outpost. My son is getting bored with the countries. We head to Japan and buy many packs of pokemon cards. He can do what he wants with his money. We walk the rest of the way through the countries and leave EpCot.
Head back to Wilderness Lodge. Husband answered phone machine and got the call about the stampede rate. He told me and I thought nothing of it because I figured my MIL was itching to get back to her house in Melbourne. My 2 BILs told me she would be in a rush to get home. We leave WL in time to head back to EpCot for our 730PS at Rose & Crown and Illuminations. While sitting having drinks we mention this stampede rate to my MIL. Not only does she want to stay another night but another 3 nights!

More Nights!?!?!? What Fun!!!!

Sounds like a great Mother in law, and you are all having such a great time!!

Thanks for the reports, keep em coming!~

rubs off on her......I just want her to have fun........thanks for posting

I need to add to Wed trip report.
This day started out with the most gorgeous views from the top of the Wilderness Lodge. We were the flag family. We met Ranger Stan at guest services at 815, took the elevator to the 7th floor and climbed the stairs to the roof. We had 5 flags to raise. After we raise the colors we said the pledge of allegiance. Ranger Stan took pictures of all of us for us. We could see the EpCot ball, tree of life, Cinderella's castle, MGM tower and of course the Contemporary. When we returned back to guest services Ranger Stan had a certificate for us. Our wonderful flag family experience lasted about half hour. My pictures came out very good and Im hoping to make my MIL a collage with my WL pictures for Christmas.

Our view of Illuminations from the Rose & Crown was awesome! Best place Ive ever seen Illuminations and we were sitting! 5 years ago we were in the crowds standing on tiptoe. After Illuminations we walked out through Intl Gateway and took a taxi ($10 plus tip) back to WL from the Boardwalk. Same walking distance as walking to the front of EpCot but ALOT less crowd.

Wonderful! Don't keep us in suspense too long!!! 22 days- our van's in the shop and DS is coming down with something....

Might I inqure as to what the Stampede Rate was? Is it like we have gotten sometimes when staying off season when they call and offer you a discounted rate to stay longer? If so, was it is a significant discount? I am so glad that your MIL felt the magic and was able to stay 3 more days. How wonderful to see a generational family at Disney. We love going with our grands also.

Yes, it was slightly discounted but I guess it depends on how you look at it. The courtyard view rate before discount I believe is about $298. We also had my MIL as 3rd adult. Using my MILs FL res seasonal pass I was able to get the room each of the first 3 nights for about $201 including my MIL 3rd adult charge. The room charge the last 3 nights was $168 including the 3rd adult plus tax.

Dear IGTD

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. We are staying at the AS's and I doubt that we would be given a bigger discount than what we curently have ($49) but we were thinking of possibly staying a few extra days if the urge strikes us and might be interested in a discounted rate for a resort we have not stayed at previously.

I hope you are not suffering from withdrawal pains. LOL

Of course Im suffering withdrawal pains. That's why my husband and I are in the process of buying 200 Disney vacation club points. We will be vacationing for the next 41 years! By then I'll be in my 80s so my 9yr son will take over our vacations. I think of it as his honeymoon lodging will be paid for.

Dear IGTD

Congratulations! I am sure that you will still be enjoying WDW even into your 80's. After all we are young at heart when we are there!
