So I am looking online and trying to figure all this out!:surfweb:

It looks like the average iMessage takes about a Kb of data... so I can get a average of 1000 messages for about 1Mb of data..... Has anyone ever figured this out?:teacher:

So if this is true it is way cheaper to get 15Mb of data in the US for $25 then the txt plan of 100 for $25! My kids can iMessage me from home and I can recieve them in WDW way cheaper then a txt. Now just got to turn everything else off on my phone so I am not using to much data!

We're on Telus, and the US Text pass is 20 bucks for a text pass. Your texts are then billed at your regular rate they would be in Canada. i.e if you have unlimited at home you'll have unlimited at home too.

When we bought the Telus text pass if was cheaper per text from WDW but not free. We have unlimited texts at home but we paid per text in August, just at a cheaper rate than without the pass.

You are probably aware of this but just in case, iMessage only works between iPods, iPads and iPhones running iOS5. In other words, only recent Apple devices and i don't think its available for mac. Otherwise the messages are sent as regular text messages.

I've had fantastic results with texting via Skype for iphone as long as you can connect to a free wifi source!

You were over charged then.

We were in the US August and had the text passes on our phones. We were also charged per text, just took one call to Telus and they reversed all of the per text charges. This was the $20 text pass.

I now see that Telus has changed the Text Pass plans.

Best bet is to call your provider and see what the plans are like.

I just checked my phone bill with Rogers and kicking myself. I am normally very careful and never get a plan when I'm at Disney, but for some reason, the day I left Buffalo I'm being dinged 75 bucks for data:mad: I'm not sure how the one day had so much data on it and I thought I had turned off data roaming. I tried to talk to the guy at Rogers but he was not very helpful. Lesson learnt - ensure data is turned off all the time or leave iPhone at home and switch to a old phone for trip.
