Yet another dining report installment! LOL

Sci Fi (MGM) Lunch
Again, this is ok .. not outstanding. But .. I can't choose ALL the places we eat I guess! LOL I had a Caeser salad to start - it was fair, nothing special. Dave ordered some onion rings, and I tasted one (I pick the batter off & leave the onion! LOL) and that was ehhhh too. For lunch, I had a cheeseburger & chocolate shake and those were good! They always are, and though I've tried various things in my trips here, I like those the best. Dave had the Smoked Prime Rib sandwich and said it was alright. Ev got a hot dog & fries, Alec the chicken tenders and they both had shakes too.

Portobello Yacht Club (DD) Dinner
Another "first" for me, dining here, and yet another good experience! This is an attractive, bustling place inside .. in fact, if it hadn't been so hot & humid out, I probably would've wanted to eat outside on the patio. They have a really decent Italian wine list, and food to match. And one thing that surprised me very much was finding out that they are owned by the same group that operates Fultons, which I totally despised, wouldn't go there again if the meal were free! LOL

Anyhow, moving along .. for my appetizer, I had a Mmmmmm good Stuffed Mussels, with shrimp & smoked parmigan, baked in a lemon/white wine/garlic sauce. Just excellent!! I had a Bellini with this to start. Dave had a Tomato & Mozzarella salad, with a dark balsamic vinagrette drizzle, and that was tasty too. For our main courses, I had a pasta - I'm used to having a lot of it, hadn't really had much yet in the trip and I needed my "fix"! LOL I had the Farfelle (sp?) pastas with a cream sauce, and asparagus, broccoli, snow peas & cheese - very good and not too heavy, despite the sauce. I had a Riserva Chianti with this course. Dave had a Caeser salad with Grilled shrimp, and a Pizza Margherita; Ev had a Pizza Margherita also, and Alec had the big meal this evening -- a Steak & Shrimp mixed grill, with mixed veggies. This was HUGE! The people at the next table were first gawking, then just laughing when the waiter placed it in front of this little 10 yo! LOL He did a pretty good job of eating it though! Nooo desserts tonight, or they may have had to raise the roof to get me out of there! LOL

The Plaza Restaurant (MK) Lunch
This is another favorite of mine and Evan's too, which is why he chose it for his birthday lunch. It's such a pretty place, and it's cool and .. just nice for lunch!
However, we did NOT have the most pleasant of servers here unfortunately! She was just gruff and acted as if we were "bothering" her. That aside, the lunch was good! I had the Chicken Strawberry Salad and I liked it a lot! It was a field greens salad, tossed with a zinfandel vinagrette, with pieces of boneless skinless chicken breast, strawberries and gorgonzola cheese. Very refreshing on a hot day! These yummy homemade "croutons" came with it - they were actually more the size of large melba toasts. Evan had a club sanwich, fries and a chocolate mint shake; Alec had a burger, fries and that shake too. Dave had a salad, and a tuna sandwich and a root beer float. The meal was good as it always is, I just wish the server had been a little nicer! LOL

HDD
We finally did this for the first time last year, and though I wasn't expecting a whole lot food wise, it really was pretty good! Evan wanted it for his birthday, so we were back again this year. You're served a family style salad, with a lite, Italian type dressing. There's fresh baked bread with a honey butter that's good. The main courses are fried chicken that is very good! and ribs (I didn't have any of these, but everyone else liked them) and baked beans & corn, also good! Strawberry shortcake is the dessert and that was yummy also!

More great sounding food. Chicken Strawberry Salad sounds interesting. I wouldnt think to put the two together. Maybe I'll try it sometimes.

Thanks for the report!:)

Portobello's is one of the options I am considering for our October trip (after Cirque de Soleil)!
