Finally ... after all this time .. I got to do the Grand I!! I've wanted to do this since they got the darned boat! LOL but for various reasons, never have. And lemme tell ya, it was SO cool walking up to the dock at the Grand, and knowing that that boat was all ready and waiting .. for me! LOL
The Grand I is absolutely, positively AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD what a STUNNING boat!!!! It's got three bedrooms .. three baths ... a washer and dryer ... kitchen .. I could EASILY live on this thing in the Caribbean with NO problems at all! LOL
We were greeted very warmly by the crew, and given a "tour" of the boat first. There was VERY VERY nice champagne, a YUMMY cake, roses and rose petals everywhere .. it was heaven I tell ya! LOL There were also videos for Ev to watch if he wanted - we had free run of the boat. Out of curiousity, as we got to talking to the crew, I found out that the boat would sell for about $650K! In fact, this is the 5th Grand I ... and they're getting ready to replace it again shortly - they've sold it to a former guest! When I asked how often it was used, I found out that it's rented out a MINIMUM of 35 times a month .. and often, in the busier times, as much as 70 times!! I guess that amazes me because it ain't cheap! LOL I also found out that you CANNOT sleep on the boat -- I'd thought you could, but as it turns out, you can't because the Hotel and Motel Association has some sort of codes or restrictions or whatnot that would make it VERY difficult for the GF to allow this.
I tell ya ... seeing the fireworks .. being on the lake like this .. sure does spoil you for doing it any other way! LOL We had a wonderful time!! The crew was SO nice, accomodating, chatty, friendly .. just great!! After the fireworks, they even dropped Evan and Melissa off at the MK for eticket night!
I hope I get to do this again some time .. and if anyone's looking for a way to have a special celebration, DO consider this!!
