Im a current freshman at Marquette University and i have always wanted to become an imagineer:thumbsup2. Not really thinking about it i picked mechanical eng as a major. It turns out i don't think it is for me. I want to be more of a creative design imagineer.:wizard: I want to design where stuff goes, i want to design the way things look on the outside, stuff like that. What field of engineering should i look into? (without architectural eng, we dont have it at MU)

i need help fast lol thanks!, Me==>:worship::littleangel:<==You

I'm a mechanical engineering student with 2 semesters to go. From the way the engineering field looks "hard" mechanical will take you in any direction you want, from design of machines to management of facilities. I've got about 2 years professional experience and from what I've seen as a mechanical I can go in almost any direction I want. As far as a specific engineering field to focus on that fits your needs I'll be honest my best advice is to stick with mechanical. A buddy of mine is facilities engineering it focuses more on systems inside buildings and what not, a friend of mine is architectural he only focuses on design.

It's really a personal choice but from my experience I can say that "hard" Mechanical Engineering can take you almost anywhere.

** Hard mechanical focuses more on machine design and scientific type courses that will help you in the design world.
** Soft mechanical is more focused on machine maintenance and some other stuff I don't know too much about it. Except that it can't take you as many places.

Hello! I am a senior this year and I chose Engineering for the same reason- to become an imagineer. I happened to choose the wrong engineering (industrial). Imangineers are made of hundreds of different diciplines not limited to engineers. It sounds like you are more interested in design which is great for imagineering. Architecture would be a good place to go, as well as theater design, anything really creative and artsy. They LOVE creative people. I would definitely do the Disney College Program if I were you. You can take the Engineering Professional Development Study and learn a little bit about WDI. Good luck!
