Basically if you are staying onsite at a Universal resort, you get "front of the line" access at all rides...AND restaurants.

Kinda like the fast pass...but reserved for resort guests only.

Imagine if Disney did something like this with the restaurants though...that would be nuts. Poor "off-site" staying guests would never eat! heheh

We stayed at HRH in 2001, and were blown away by the Front of the Line Access!! At first, we couldn't figure out how it worked, and stood in the regular lines! Then, we asked a ride attendant, and voila! right to the front of the line!! IMO, this perk blows WDW Fastpass out of the water!! The only reason I can think of that WDW didn't pick up on this, they have so many resorts, with so many rooms, it would be like standing in the regular line!

Even so, WDW has so much more going for it than US, that we give up FOTL to get the charm of WDW!!;)

Disney used to only let onsite guests make advance PS. Offsite guests had to stop by guest services day of to find out if they could sit down anywhere. A year ago or so there was a rumor that they'd reinstate this as part of the 60/90 day switch - but they didn't - either because they never were going to or because the blowback on the rumor (the rumor was they weren't considering AP guests or DVC members to be part of the set eligible to make advance PS).

I think that eventually they will return to this model - you'll need a hotel reservation number to make a PS - and cancelling your Disney hotel will result in your PSs getting cancelled. Its a fairly easy perk to give onsite guests that likely wouldn't cost too much to impliment and would help sell the "what do I GET for staying onsite" question.

We stayed at HRH for one night at end of our June 2002 trip to BCV. It is the only way to tour US or IOA during the busy times. We hit all the big shows at US and we never waited more than 15 minutes. Just show your key and of to the FOL. They also sell books of FOL passes, but I would nevery pay extra to get that privilage and you only get 1 pass for some of the rides. We will do one of their hotels again...FOL is well worth it , especially is you are only doing 1 day of touring(although if you stay one night you get access on check-in and check-out day..all day.

I was told that when they first planned Fastpasses they were going to be for resort guests only. But then they thought everyone would say it is not fair, it is another way to make you stay on-site. I think you should get a couple of fastpasses when you check in like 2 for each day.
