Imagine that I am renting your points...Will someone please walk me through this? I'd like to know how far in advance this can take place, if the dining plan can be added, and generally how the transaction works. Also, as a potential renter, would I post which DVC I'm interested in, and the dates, and hope for the best?

I suggest you go to the rent trade board here on the DIS and read ALL the stickys at the top of the page. There is a LOT of information there that will get you started. Then if you have additional questions or need something clearified, you can come back here and ask something more specific and less general.

Members can only book 11 months out. But you can work out a verbal agreement with a member to book you a reservation when the 11 month booking window opens.

Dining and Magical Express can be added.

As far as the rest.....yes, yes, and yes. You also need to specify unit size.

generally ask for 3 different dvc resort or 3 different dates - just in case your first choice is not available.

will send you a contract - it contains the basic - what is being reserved and your responsibilities.

will send you a reservation confirmation - at that time you would send me the first half of the money. at 90 days before you arrival require the second half.

to add the DME - need alot of information from you.

Please be sure and educate yourself on how a DVC reservation is very different from a regular hotel reservation, and the basics of “renting points”, as it is often referred to.
